Today we’d like to introduce you to Albert Lozano.
Hi Albert, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey in the hospitality industry has been an exciting adventure that has taught me valuable lessons and helped me grow as a person. Starting as a server at 18, I’ve now become a professional mixologist, restaurant professional, entrepreneur, and freelancer. Throughout my career, I’ve been passionate about learning all aspects of the industry, including wine, spirits, coffee service, and chef techniques. This knowledge has given me a deep understanding of service and hospitality at every level, from casual dining to the most exquisite establishments.
But I wasn’t content to stop there. I noticed that there were significant needs in the industry that weren’t being met, and I founded HTXRugger to address those gaps. Today, our grassroots movement is making a positive impact in the industry and beyond, with subsidiaries like WhiskeyWolf Bartend, PawGoHTX, BrandifyHTX, ChefnTricks, Landmark Painting, and EnsembleEventsHTX offering an array of services to make life easier and better for our customers.
My daughter, Evelyn, is my greatest inspiration and motivator. I want to leave behind a legacy that she’ll be proud of, and that’s what drives me every day. I believe that with discipline and the support of the community, we can achieve our goals and grow to new scales.
I’m proud to say that HTXRugger is the change that the industry needs to shift the Overton window into tomorrow. We’re creating a new political platform that meets the needs of today, and we’re inspiring others to join our cause and create positive change in their communities. My story is a testament to the power of passion and perseverance, and I hope that it inspires others to pursue their dreams and make a difference.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As I reflect on my journey in the hospitality industry, it’s clear that it hasn’t been an easy road. In fact, I’ve encountered obstacles at every turn, from my early days as a waiter to my current role as an entrepreneur. However, one of the most significant challenges I’ve faced is the realization that many of the issues plaguing the industry are not isolated incidents, but rather systemic and widespread.
I’ve worked in both fine dining establishments and casual restaurants like Chili’s, and despite the vast differences in pay and prestige, I noticed that the same issues persisted. The employees perceived to be struggling with the same issues despite being on completely different pay scales. This was a significant eye-opener for me as I realized that the perception of struggle was more widespread than I initially thought.
Another issue I encountered was the deception surrounding the quality of products served at high-end events. As a mixologist and restaurant professional, I worked with many talented chefs who presented what they claimed to be a “quality product,” but in reality, it was often far from it. I realized that this was not an individual’s flaw but rather a systemic problem where profits were prioritized over quality.
Through these experiences, I learned some tough lessons about the industry and the world at large. Perhaps the most important one is that the perception of struggle is often more prevalent than the reality. My journey has shown me that there is a need to address the systemic issues facing the industry and our world, and until we do so, we will continue to struggle. Being a parent has given me a new perspective on the world and the importance of fighting for a better tomorrow. It’s why I remain committed to addressing the systemic issues facing the industry and doing my part to make a positive impact. I truly believe that with enough perseverance and dedication, we can create a better future for ourselves and for the next generation. And that’s something worth fighting for.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As the founder of the HTXRugger brand and co-owner of WhiskeyWolf Bartend, my specialty lies in private event staffing and providing craft cocktail services to corporate and high-end clientele. In addition to these services, I offer a range of other services under the HTXRugger umbrella, all aimed at providing my customers with a peace of mind and better experiences.
Aside from my daughter, what I’m most proud of is the digital frontier side of my business. Creating craft cocktail videos for various social media platforms has been a passion of mine, and I’m excited to be launching a podcast with my partner Elisabeth Garza. Our podcast will feature and review high-proof Texas whiskey and cover various topics of today.
What sets me apart from others in the industry is my philosophical approach to doing business with my customers. Drawing from my restaurant background, I focus on providing a more genuine and ultimately better product than others. I’m known for being innovative and a visionary but always searching for my “why.” This approach has allowed me to offer a unique experience to my customers and build strong relationships with them.
With recent events happening in the world and being a parent to a wonderful daughter, I find myself needing to be and do the best I can be for her. This has motivated me to continue pushing boundaries in the industry and providing exceptional services to my clients. I am committed to delivering the best and leaving a lasting impression on everyone I work with.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I take great pride in the things I have built and accomplished, but to me, success has a deeper, more intrinsic meaning. For me, success means finding my “why” behind something that I am genuinely passionate about. Without this sense of purpose, I believe it is easy to get lost in the vast sea of possibilities that life presents. Success is not just about accumulating wealth or material possessions. It is about creating a meaningful legacy, one that is balanced and harmonized with happiness in spending time with loved ones.
To me, the most precious thing we have is time, and we can never get it back. That is why I believe success is intimately intertwined with the value we place on our time. For me, success means having the freedom to use my time in a way that is fulfilling and aligned with my values. It means having the ability to pursue my passions, to spend time with my loved ones, and to make a positive impact on the world around me. To me, success is freedom of time.
