Daily Inspiration: Meet Alexa Glasser

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexa Glasser.

Alexa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My creativity stemmed from my childhood. I always loved writing, drawing, painting and creating. I grew up in the era of beauty gurus, YouTube and the launch of beauty blenders so as you would imagine, I took to loving make up and creating different looks right away. I was the girl in high school who would get up two hours early before school so that I could make sure I had enough time to blend my eyeshadow just right. I loved make up early on and it was always something I really enjoyed playing around with. In 2016 I took a job at a cosmetics counter for Nordstrom and that’s really where I got my start for practicing on people other than myself. It was during my time there that I had the opportunity to work with so many different skin tones, eye/face shapes and skin textures.

Nordstrom definitely helped shape my artistry skill set but most importantly, it elevated my level of customer service. As time went on, I knew I needed change. Retail was becoming a beat down and my passion for cosmetics was honestly fading. I wanted to create but there’s always a sales goal attached to retail cosmetics. I wanted to focus on making my customers feel their best but it became challenging because there were always metrics that had to be met. So I left and I launched Bloom Beauty TX. I started out on an app called Thumbtack, which I still use to gain new clients and my little business really just took off from there! I launched my website, started my Instagram, Facebook and any other social media platform I could get my hands on and slowly but surely, my business grew.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I feel like it’s still too early to talk about the struggles I’ve faced with this. So far, the only real struggle I’ve faced is finding ways to gain new business. Advertising is expensive so I am still learning how to gain clients while reducing advertising costs but as they say “you gotta spend money to make money” and that definitely rings true.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in bridal make up. Soft, glowy glam is what I strive for. Never overdone, never harsh. Most importantly though, I specialize in customer satisfaction. Throughout the whole make over process, I am constantly holding a mirror up to my clients and asking them “is there anything you don’t like?” or “Is there anything you want me to change?” I make sure to let them know they won’t hurt my feelings if they don’t like something. I want them to feel beautiful and happy with their service. I believe communication is key and I am really proud of my customer service. If you don’t believe me, just read my reviews. 😉

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Aside from the mountains and travel in general…

Little moments make me happy. Ya know, the moments that bring a tear to your eye. Like watching a couple exchange their vows or hearing a new born baby cry. Time is so fleeting. I feel like we’re always in a rush and there’s this relentless feeling that time is running out. We don’t stop to appreciate the little things and the moments we’re in. I feel like we are constantly looking for the next best thing, the next change and we all look so forward to our goals and our futures that sometimes we forget the importance of the journey.

So to answer this question more directly- the moments where time slows down and I am able to absorb the love, people and emotions around me, that makes me happy and those moments make me happy because they are so extraordinarily rare.
