Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexander Nicholson.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
In 2019, my workplace held a fitness competition where I placed second. My manager, who was also a bodybuilder, invited me to meet her coach that weekend, and that moment really changed everything for me. I learned how to eat properly, take care of my body, and my physique started to transform quickly.
I began preparing for a competition in 2020, but when COVID hit, everything was put on hold. My first show ended up being in August of 2021, and I won the overall Classic Physique division. That experience solidified fitness as a core part of my daily life. I loved the structure, the routine, and the sense of purpose it gave me.
In 2022, I was laid off from my job at the start of the new year. The gym became the one thing that kept me grounded. Training gave me routine, focus, and peace of mind. It was my outlet and my way of staying centered. Fitness has always helped me bounce back in life, and I realized I wanted to help others experience that same transformation.
That’s what inspired me to start New Day Fitness, my online coaching business. Since then, I’ve hosted fitness classes, helped people lose weight, and guided clients through not just physical changes, but complete mindset shifts. Watching someone discover what their body is capable of and grow in confidence is the most rewarding part of what I do. Fitness changed my life, and now my mission is to help others feel just as strong, capable, and alive as I do.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Starting an online business and showing up consistently on Instagram and TikTok was a big challenge for me. Talking in front of the camera felt awkward at first, and there were plenty of moments where I questioned if this was really for me.
One of the biggest struggles was dealing with self-doubt. Wondering if I was good enough or if I could really make this work. What helped me push through was investing in an online fitness coach, having a mentor, and leaning on the support of my family and friends. They always reminded me of my potential and helped me bounce back when I hit setbacks.
Social media was another learning curve. Some posts take off and others don’t, but I realized that the key is consistency. You can’t stop just because one thing doesn’t perform the way you want. Growth comes from showing up, learning, and staying persistent. And persistence really is the key, that’s what’s kept me moving forward.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in helping men over 30 transform their bodies into their ultimate form. My coaching isn’t just about building muscle or losing fat, it’s about creating lasting lifestyle changes that make people feel confident, energized, and proud of their progress.
What I’m most proud of is discovering my own creativity through this journey. Growing up, I never thought of myself as a creative person. Art classes and drawing weren’t my strengths. But now, with platforms like Instagram, I’ve realized that I am creative, just in a different way. I get inspired with ideas, write them down, and bring them to life visually through content. Seeing that side of me grow has been one of the most rewarding parts of this journey.
What sets me apart is that I keep it real. Fitness isn’t just physical, it’s emotional, mental, and even spiritual. I’ve been through the same struggles my clients face. I used to be the person who partied all the time, so I know how hard it can be to change habits. That’s why my approach is down to earth and personal. I don’t just tell people to “get it done” I listen, I meet them where they’re at, and I help them break through what’s holding them back. At the end of the day, I want my clients to know they’re not alone and that real transformation is possible with the right support.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along my journey is the power of being open and talking about what you’re going through. When I’ve struggled in areas of my business or personal life, I’ve realized that trying to figure everything out on my own can feel isolating, like being stuck on an island by yourself. But when you open up and lean on your community, everything changes.
Having mentors, family, friends, and my church family support me has been a huge part of my growth. I’ve learned that teamwork really does make the dream work. Speaking honestly about my struggles not only allows me to receive help, but often, it helps others too. Nine times out of ten, someone else is going through the same thing, and by opening up, you create connection, support, and solutions together.
