Daily Inspiration: Meet Alexcia Cooper

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexcia Cooper.

Hi Alexcia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started pursuing my acting career two years ago during the start of the pandemic, during the time which I started filming myself and doing scene remakes of movies/ tv show favorites. I moved to Houston to obtain my MA in Communications from Texas Southern University. I started researching acting classes here in Houston and found Next Actor Studios with Trisha Ray. When the lockdown was lifted in 2021, I started going to acting class and fell in love with it. I learned a lot of vital information and techniques while attending classes. I loved Next Actor Studio, however, I also wanted to try new acting techniques so I found another acting academy, “ Clear Performance Academy” with Brian Thornton, and his technique is absolutely amazing! I am really learning more about my emotions and how to understand them, so I can portray the emotions of the character I am playing. Currently, I have been featured in a movie,“Dirty Thirty”, written/directed by Denise Monet. I had an amazing time on set!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a very challenging journey, yet extremely rewarding. I believe the struggles I’ve experienced have molded me into who I am today. I recently got back in school for my second Master’s, and it has been a struggle to get used to being back into school after 2 years, especially being an actress/content creator. Struggles are hard, but extremely necessary for a person’s growth and maturity.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an actress and content creator. I’m also working on putting modeling on my resume. I am known for my scene remakes of movies/tv shows, and playing the role of young Naomi in “Dirty Thirty” which was written and directed by Denise Monet. I am proud of my determination and consistency in making my dreams a reality. I had the opportunity to play in my first movie and it was an amazing experience; it felt so natural to be on set and I can’t wait to continue my journey to see where God takes me. I take great care in my scene remakes as well as break down a character’s emotion. For my scene remakes, I take the time to prep for each character in the scene. I make sure I have everything from the wig for the hairstyle to the shoes they wore in the scene. I love what I do, I love seeing the outcome of my creativity, and I love entertaining others with my talent/abilities.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Patience and consistency are the two most important, but challenging lessons that I am still learning. When you have a vision of where you see yourself and you are excited to get to that point, however, before you get there, you have to experience some obstacles in order to become the person for that life you’ve envisioned. You have to keep faith that your dreams will one day come true especially in entertainment because it will be days where I feel like why am I even trying, but there are days when my faith won’t allow me to quit!
