Daily Inspiration: Meet Alexis Thomas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Thomas.

Hi Alexis, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Brick cakes started out as a favor for a friend, which was somewhat challenging but worth it. While It started out as a hobby, I grew my artistry by watching YouTube videos and of course trial & error. I’ve loved baking pretty much my whole life. Baking was a skill that my mother couldn’t quite grasp, so if I wanted something sweet, I had to make it myself. Growing up in a single-parent home, I learn quickly to soak up as much knowledge as possible and bring it back home from everyone. In spite of my humble beginnings. I didn’t really get serious about it until I graduated college which a degree in business administration… I found how much I loved it.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The Biggest struggle I’ve had so far was maintaining a work-life balance. I’ve worked full-time as a logistics manager for Amazon since graduating college and I’m a part-time wholesaler. Juggling all of the different responsibilities and hats can be a bit challenging

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I began my career with Amazon.Com Inc as a 21-year-old straight out of college. I have a degree in Business Administration with a concentration on supply chain management. During my four years with the company, I managed one of the largest and best-performing departments in a 1,000,000,000 +sqft building, increasing productivity about 17% in each processing path I was in charge of managing. I also launched multiple buildings and received various promotions due to my contributions to the Company. My Goal is to take this same approach in launching my own business and now becoming the best entrepreneur I can be by building from scratch.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Yes! Of course, Covid-19 taught myself and I’m sure a lot of others that there is a cleaner way to do everything literally!
