Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Williams.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hi, my name is Alyssa. I’m 21 and from Beaumont, Tx. I’m a nail technician. But I’ve always had a great interest in anything relating to the beauty industry. At first, I was really interested in makeup, and I decided that my passion was becoming an MUA; I quickly decided that it was not the path for me. I was around 16 when I would start going to the nail shops and want the nails I would see on Instagram. I didn’t care about how expensive they were, and it came to a point where I realized I was making my mom spend all this money and was never really satisfied or getting remotely what I wanted. So, we made a deal. She wouldn’t have to pay for my nails anymore as long as she helped me get what I needed to do them myself. I would practice day and night. Eventually, I attended a Cosmetology program in high school to start off, but the pandemic happened, and I got pregnant, which caused me to fall behind on hours. Despite that, I graduated being awarded outstanding student and shortly after enrolled in another Cosmetology school which I graduated from as well. Throughout school, I would post on Instagram all the progress I’d been making, and it soon became something I really enjoyed doing especially seeing the content I was making get more attention. But most importantly, inspiring other people is what really gives me the motivation to go further and be the mentor I never really had.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not; I would say it’s been a roller coaster. I never intended to be a nail tech. I wanted to just do my own nails, but over time my classmates would ask me to do their nails, and I would always tell them no because I have a problem with talking to people, and I didn’t think that anybody would want to book with me because it took me four hours, so I was really self-conscious about it, and it hindered me from seeing my full potential. Regardless, I find that doing nails helped me push myself out of my comfort zone and showed me that there’s nothing to be afraid of whenever you’re working to achieve something for yourself. Slowly, I broke myself out of that, and now I cope with just pretending like I’ve known these clients for forever and just give them the best experience possible making them feel comfortable and just enjoying our time.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a nail technician. I specialize in acrylic, nails and toes. I am known for my social media presence and creativity, I think that what sets me apart from others is I’ve grown to love what I do. It’s not something that I’ve always wanted to do, and with that being said, I will always try my hardest to do more and to be better. With me not having the money or the means to get the nails that I wanted growing up, I try my best to make sure that I give my clients the best nails at the best price.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
