Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Turner-Farrar.
Hi Amber, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I founded Flawed Mom because I want mothers who feel like failures and they don’t meet societal expectations to know that your past does not define you yet tells your story of strength. All mothers can have it all (whatever it is that your heart desires).
I launched my online store AmberFarrar.com in 2017 to influence my female audience by being an open book. After working so hard & being torn between giving back and operating an apparel line at the same time I decided to to do both. I am the owner of Flawed The Label and founder of the nonprofit organization Flawed Mom.
Along this journey, I’ve relocated my family for personal reasons, jumped the broom (not physically), birthed my 5th baby, survived Hurricane Harvey 2 months after moving to Houston, TX, and most recently successfully operated 2 businesses through a pandemic.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I can honestly say that since I practice patience, I haven’t come across any obstacles that I feel are worth mentioning. I’ve been blessed to have great supporters, and I’m also able to be a blessing to others.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am the creator of Flawed Mom. Flawed Mom is a nonprofit and we recently branched off into the apparel industry. AmberFarrar.com is the only place that you may purchase Flawed Mom or Flawed The Label merchandise, and apparel. I am most known for creating safe spaces online and in person for moms to network, be transparent, and find resources that they can really use. I am extremely proud of my brand because myself and everyone that stands behind it are who we say we are. If we say that we are going to help, or show up in any way that’s exactly what we will do. Our community is a judge-free group. We raise awareness on issues that your typical mom groups may not want to touch and no one is ever judged for how they feel.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
The goal for Flawed Mom nonprofit organization is to be operating in 4 major cities. If we can help moms all of the world take care of themselves mentally, physically, and financially I believe that we will be helping to reduce maternal stress and strengthening social bonds. These things are important to have healthy families.
