Today we’d like to introduce you to Angel Estella.
Hi Angel Estella, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been an artist for as long as I remember, it’s always been in me. Something I naturally gravitated towards, so fighting against it would’ve felt wrong. It wasn’t until 2020, When my son was born, when I started expanding my horizons. My art went from visual, paintings, and digital art, to tattoos, and music, and just about any other way I could express myself. Recently moving to Houston from Baton Rouge, I’m still trying to create connections in the creative scene to grow my audience and community. Hopefully as I find and connect with more people I’ll be able to continue to grow in the creative community here in Houston.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I would say it’s been a smooth road, ofcourse there are goals and accomplishments that I’m still striving for. I will say , it is easy to be discouraged in a creative field. We all wanna drop something and it take off like we’re Drake, or get attention like the Mona Lisa. But I find that focusing on the outcomes can take away from the joy of creating. But creating art is really the accomplishing part. When I’m doing that, and being intentional in what I want to share and express, it all feels successful.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
lol not to be cliche but I do whatever I’m feeling that day, I think it keeps me spontaneous as an artist. Career wise, I’m mostly known for tattoos and visual or digital art first , then it would probably be music immediately after. But because I try not to limit myself to one medium, many just see me as an artist. Honestly anything I have the courage to share with the world makes me proud, it’s hard to put out manifestations of your own world into 3d for people to hopefully enjoy, but unavoidably judge. Which is what sets me a part and also connects me to others. The things created are coming from my mind and imagination, pure authenticity. But fortunately it’s still relatable, different worlds but similar experiences. It’s just easier for me to express them through creativity, from a perspective someone might not have seen before.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Any holiday was a favorite childhood memory. I value the simple experiences, so every holiday back then me and all my cousins would have sleepovers. Something about us all being together , before we all had to grow up and start thinking about anything other than just being , and enjoying each others company. Now with us being older, getting us all in the same room seems nearly impossible. Something I took for granted for sure.
