Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Barras.
Hi Ashley, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started out this journey as a single parent, moving to Houston to escape a small town and dive into more opportunities. I met people from all different walks of life, and I fell in love with all the things Houston had to offer. Originally, I moved here for a totally different industry and I got tired of working a 9-5 endless work life. My clients and some of my co workers had broken into Real Estate, and it was something I always wondered about but was very intimated to do. While working full time, I went to get my Real Estate license and decided to put all the doubt in my mind behind me and pursue a new career. Within the first year, and with help from my mentor, I sold over half a million in sales. I feel like hopefully, I can be an inspiration to others that are starting a new career, that with a goal in mind, they can be successful.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It’s hard to break out into an industry where you are still new to the area. It would have been easier to do this in a smaller city, where I personally know more people. It’s hard to convince people that you are going to move away from something you’re comfortable with. But you also don’t grow where you are comfortable. My whole life, I feel like I’ve always had to prove myself. I am strict with myself, so I have always persevered through hard times because I know where I want to be.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a Realtor in the Fort Bend County area, where I also live. It has become home to me over the last seven years. I’m most proud of always taking a risk. It has gotten me to where I am today, and without taking those chances, I may not have the life I do now. What sets me apart from others is that I am an individual that will always help others, and I follow through with my clients.
Any big plans?
I would love to eventually have my own brokerage and lead a team.
