Daily Inspiration: Meet Aurelia Sky

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aurelia Sky.

Hi Aurelia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am a plastic surgeon and recording artist hybrid. I am a female songwriter and co-write my songs. I have always had a dream to become a performer/singer/artist. I was in the top 7 Super Girl China Idol, which is a singing competition in China a few years back while I was in Medical School.  Unfortunately, I needed to withdraw the competition due to a time conflict with my medical school. But that dream never truly died. It was during the COVID-19 pandemic when I realized how unpredictable and short life was and that I had to realize my dream to become a pop star singer now before it is too late. I truly believe in “Never Too Late” that you can achieve anything you want in your life, as long as you put your heart, time and work into it; and keep moving forward even though it seems impossible and super hard at times and never stop believing in yourself.

My husband recognized how much I was longing to be on the center stage again. He knew I love Beyonce, so for my birthday a couple of years ago, and he tracked down Tom McKinney, Beyonce’s voice coach, and asked him to surprise me with giving me a voice training session. I was overwhelmed. And I was so fortunate that Tom loved my voice, and the rest is history. From that moment on, my dream come true journey began.

My original song titles are “Never Too Late” (about my life story), “Spark” (about my loved ones), “Start Small” (about we have to start small to help people in need) and my newest single “Ring Ring” (a fun song about being fed up with all the zoom calls during the pandemic). These songs are available on all music outlets such as iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Pandora, and YouTube. I was also able to work with several great videographers, such as David Nguyen and Ralph Canono to produce a fantastic video to each song.

Even though I am quite new in this entertainment industry, I have already been lucky enough to perform at South by Southwest (SXSW) in Ausin this year, at the House of Blues in downtown Houston, at several fund raising events such as for the Multiple Sclerosis Society, and at the Discovery Green Music Festival (the spring break and the summer event). I am extremely grateful and humbled by these amazing experiences.

Furthermore, I am married with one child. I speak six languages because I lived in several countries to train to become better in every super specialty in plastic surgery (The languages are: Indonesian, English, German, Chinese, Italian, and Japanese). Houston has been my home for 6 years now. The city has grown on me a lot.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it definitely has not been a smooth ride for me. I got involved with the wrong people early on who just wanted to take advantage of me being new in the business. I poured all my heart into these people to make my dream come true. I really believed in them, but I experienced frustration after frustration and ended up trying so hard to let go of these people to move forward and raise above it, learn from my mistakes and focus on being better and what’s best for my art in music.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a pop singer but I am also a plastic surgeon. I am specialized in both aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. Since I have become a pop singer artist, I am known for being a singer /plastic surgeon artist. I am most proud of having been able to achieve both of my dreams before it’s too late and go out of my comfort zone and be brave to chase my dream. I am most proud of my family who supported me, and I will never give up on my dream to become a singer/artist/performer and keep focusing on being better every day.

I believe, being a surgeon and a pop singer really sets me apart from others, I want to show others that do not be afraid to living your dream! And it’s never too late to achieve anything you want to be and believe in because if it’s never too late for me, it’s definitely never too late for you!

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Lessons learned:
1. Never be so easily trusting people before you do a thorough research.
2. Take your time to plan better, rather than rushing everything with the worst result.
3. People will always disappoint you, but you should never give up, you need to keep working hard, keep creating and raise above it and focus on all the positive things that you made/built, love the people who unconditionally love you and support you.
4. You can have the good cry, once you shake it off and you have to come back stronger, it always taste way sweeter after a bitter experience.
