Today we’d like to introduce you to Blesson Varghese.

Blesson Varghese

Hi Blesson, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
My fascination with photography was ignited during my childhood. You could always find the family camera in my hands. The world around me was an endless playground of stories to be told. I vividly remember coming home from church on Sundays and conducting photoshoots in our backyard. My older sisters were my first subjects. It’s interesting because at the time, I just remember having fun with what seemed to be another cool toy, but it’s only when we became older that I realized the emotion and joy that those images would draw out of us. Those pictures became portals to nostalgia, deeply cherished and valued. Photography remained a cherished hobby as I navigated life’s ups and downs. It wasn’t something that I put much effort or thought into. In fact, my love for photography was seemingly fading away. That is until I embarked on the adventure of marriage and found my wife Julu. Julu’s unwavering support rekindled my passion. I became encouraged and realized I had a warehouse full of creative ideas locked up in my head. We decided to began the dream of turning this beloved hobby into something more – a business that would not only fulfill our creative aspirations but also touch the lives of others.

Guided by a profound faith in Jesus and the desire to serve and bless those around us, my wife and I found a deeper purpose in our photography journey. We recognized the power of images to capture moments of connection, to convey emotions that words may fail to express and to tell stories that resonate with the heart. It was this realization that led us to a new calling – to minister to people’s lives through the art of photography. Through the lens, we aimed to reflect the love, grace, and beauty that Jesus embodied, spreading joy and inspiration one photograph at a time. As we entered the world of professional photography, Houston, TX, and its surrounding areas became more than just locations on a map; they became the stages upon which we painted our vision.

With gratitude for the journey that brought us here, we eagerly awaited the stories yet to unfold through the lens, knowing that each photograph was a testimony to our faith

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As we embarked on this journey, we encountered a few obstacles that tested our determination and resilience. One of the most significant challenges was our lack of knowledge about running a business. While we were well-versed in the art of photography, the intricacies of entrepreneurship were entirely foreign territory. I am the least business-minded person you could meet. I didn’t know the first thing about running a business and found it so difficult to ask people for money, even If I poured in endless hours of work for it. The learning curve was steep, and there were moments of frustration and self-doubt. Thankfully, my wife was a huge asset regarding this, and we just put the pedal to the medal, trusting God and looking forward. Our passion for photography and our shared vision to express our faith through our work fueled our determination to overcome. Another obstacle was making big financial decisions. We are still fairly young in our journey, and a huge part of the growing pains is the hurdle of business investments. We had to carefully manage our resources, make sacrifices, and reinvest any earnings back into the business. It was a tightrope walk that tested our commitment and forced us to make strategic decisions that would benefit the long-term growth of our venture.

Despite these challenges, our passion, faith, and the unwavering support of our loved ones kept us going.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
A huge challenge that we have faced is the balance of our business and professional career. Me and Julu both have full-time jobs in the healthcare field. Our background and education are rooted in biosciences, with me having a background in kinesiology and my wife completing medical school. We are worlds apart from the field of arts, which is what I think really set us apart. I am pretty proud of our workflow as this lifestyle leaves us with very limited time. This meant late nights, early mornings, and weekends spent editing photos, responding to client inquiries, and organizing shoots. The lines between work, business, and personal life often blurred, but our shared commitment to our craft kept us going. Despite the challenges and sacrifices, we found immense fulfillment in this dual pursuit.

How do you define success?
Success is one of those things that can be fluid in definition depending on the context. When it comes to the technical aspect of photography, success can include the ability to adapt to challenges and learn from your experiences. This may involve overcoming obstacles, acquiring new skills, and continuously improving. When it comes to the purpose we have for our business, success can mean staying true to our faith-based approach and using photography as a means to minister to people and bless their lives. It’s about maintaining integrity and the values we hold dear. I guess you define the overall definition of success as finding fulfillment in pursuing your passion. It’s about finding joy and purpose in your work and making a positive impact in someone’s life.
