Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Verrett.

Brittany Verrett

Hi Brittany, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always had a thing for baking since my childhood days. I remember getting my first easy bake oven, and once I was old enough to use the oven, I’d continue to bake and experiment with different flavors and toppings. During my adult years, I baked more cupcakes than any other sweet treats. In December 2022, while celebrating the holidays with my family, as my sister watched me decorate cupcakes, she stated, “I should sign you up for Sugar Rush.” The light bulb went off. I decided in that moment that I was going to start a business selling cupcakes. It’s something that I enjoy doing, and I love to be creative.

I purchased a notebook and begin to write down my vision. I decided on the name Cupcakes Allways because there are so many things that you can create with cupcakes. After work, I would go home to complete online modules, along with short quizzes. After about 3 days, I successfully completed the Food Handler Training Program.

When I think of different ways to create with cupcakes, I think of things such as a dozen of cupcakes, adult cupcakes, cupcake pull apart cakes… toppings, no topping, and this list goes on, but with Cupcakes Allways, you decide. Homemade cupcakes baked fresh to order and with decorations of your choice. While sharing my story with you, I hope that you have found inspiration to follow your dreams. It’s never the perfect time until you make it the perfect time towards taking the first step to reach your goal. It will be challenging, but it’s not impossible.

One of my favorite quotes, “When it feels scary to jump, that’s exactly when you jump. Otherwise, you end up staying the same place your whole life. And that so can’t do.” J C Chandon

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Working full-time and being a parent of two teenagers, both being involved in extracurricular activities, is time-consuming. I had to find a way to have balance. Things can get a bit messy in the kitchen. On the weekends, I would bake, and during the week, I would write about my experience. What the pros and cons consisted of so that I could revisit and write down what I could do differently during the next baking session to have a smoother flow.

I can recall one Sunday when I decided to modify a cupcake recipe; the cupcakes came out to be a total disaster. In total disappointment, I asked my daughter, who had just entered the kitchen, to take a look. She looked at them and said, “Aww, ma, you got it.” I looked at her, smiled, and replied, “You’re right; I do.” In the midst of feeling frustrated, the positivity from my daughter prompted me to try again, and they came out perfect. I can always count on my son to provide honest feedback when test tasting. That’s very important!

I also use baking as a stress reliever. I believe in operating in high vibrations; after a long week of work, I love enjoying the aroma of freshly baked cupcakes. Thinking of different ways to decorate and different flavors of is exciting. When things become challenging, I reset and allow the positive energy to come in and continue perfecting the craft.
