Daily Inspiration: Meet Caitlyn R

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caitlyn R.

Hi Caitlyn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Growing up, I’ve always had a passion for dance and performing. In elementary school I was on the cheer and dance team, in middle school I was on the step team, and in high school I was on the drill team for all four years. Being encouraged by friends and family to try out for the Houston Texans NFL Cheerleader team, I took a chance at 19 years old out of high school. A once in a lifetime opportunity that I wanted to experience, so I trained for the chance to represent the city that I grew up In and loved. After three rounds, multiple dances, Interviews, a week of finals and voting I made the team! I couldn’t believe it; I had only dreamt of it. I cheered for 2 seasons while balancing classes and realized I had another passion, helping others. So, I retired from cheer traded my red boots in for books, and now have a career in healthcare at a local Houston hospital. Throughout my journey I’ve had the opportunity to make connections in the city and start a freelance modeling career. I’ve worked with local Houston artists and companies modeling athleticwear, swimwear, and jewelry, as well as modeling for global brands such as CHI haircare products doing commercials. To this day I still take and occasionally host dance classes, work events for the Texan Cheerleaders and freelance model, all while balancing work and my personal life.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In the beginning it was tough attempting to be 100% focused on school and being completely present with cheer, when I wanted to succeed in both. I went back and forth on decisions before finally figuring out what I wanted and how to be successful and focus on every aspect of each goal.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I currently work in Healthcare at a local hospital while balancing my social life and going to school to continue my education. I still do events with the Houston Texans Cheerleaders Alumni Association and take modeling jobs in my free to continue to grow my modeling portfolio.

What matters most to you?
While a lot of things matter to me family is my #1. And In relation to being successful in any aspect of life; make connections. Making connections will help you grow and take you to the next level.
