Today, we’d like to introduce you to Cece Carter.

Cece Carter

Cece, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Well, I started off in the beauty industry. I was in that field for about 18 years, with the last 5 of those years having my own salon. It was a wonderful experience to be able to wake up and do what you love and help others in the process.

In 2020, that came to an unexpected stop, just like everything else in the world during that time. It was becoming more difficult to keep my business afloat with all the changes and uncertainties. I had to make the decision to close my salon and trust God with the rest.

I’m glad I did because he gave me beauty for ashes. That’s when I found real estate, my new love and a new way to help those in my community. A new way for God to use me.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Anytime you make a major change, there will be challenges. Anytime you are doing what God has for you to do, the road won’t be an easy one. I started real estate in April of 2021, and a year later my real estate business was taking off. I was learning so much, and I felt like I was really moving in my purpose. Then, unfortunately, I experienced a medical emergency on September 1st of 2022 that once again made everything come to a stop.

This time it was just me, though, and that messed with me mentally. I low-key was feeling like a failure. I know what I was going through was not my fault, and the fact that I couldn’t be 100% was something I couldn’t help, but it was very discouraging. It would be a whole year and some months before I could really get back to business. That came with a whole new struggle.

I had lost momentum, I wasn’t present in the community, and I still was trying to get out of the “what if…” mindset. Then I was reminded of my favorite scripture, Psalms 37:4. If you delight yourself in the Lord, he will give you the desires of your heart. I knew that if I just kept moving forward and trusting him, then I will get back whatever I thought I lost and more.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe you can tell us more about your work next?
So, I am the owner of Carter Realty Group powered by Realty ONE Group Iconic. I am a real estate agent in Houston, Tx with my focus primarily in North Houston. I assist the people with selling, purchasing and investing of residential real estate.

I specialize in first time home buyers and making sure that all of my clients no matter the experience level is educated and have all the knowledge necessary to have a seamless real estate transaction. I am most proud of the fact that I am being a service to my community in some shape, form or fashion.

I offer a first-time home buyer seminar that takes the attendees from beginning to end through the process of purchasing a home. They leave with tools to prepare them for purchase, and they are even able to get approved for a home loan right there on the spot.

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Risk taking to me is what I like to call a faith walk. You don’t know what the future holds, but you just keep moving everyday as if the future is now. I think I took a risk leaving the beauty industry after 18 years, with no plan in the middle of a world wide pandemic to embark on a new career.

I had faith that if I just kept moving in the direction of being the best real estate agent I could be or the kind of real estate agent I would want, then God would and will continue to guide my steps. I think it’s important to take risks sometimes.

It builds character, stretches you as a person, and causes you to see a side of yourself that you may not have known was there. If you don’t put yourself out there, you won’t know what you are capable of. I will say use wisdom, too, because not all risks are good ones to take. It’s never beneficial to be foolish.
