Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsey Rosier.
Hi Chelsey, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started The Pit Center out of a real passion for basketball and for helping young athletes grow. After playing at the collegiate level and then coaching for years, I saw a gap in our community for a consistent, structured, and supportive training environment. Kids were talented, hungry, and eager to work — they just needed a place that believed in them, pushed them, and gave them real opportunities to develop. That’s what inspired me to build The Pit Center from the ground up.
What began as a vision has now become a full basketball training facility that serves athletes of all ages — from beginners learning the basics to advanced players preparing for college. Over time, we’ve expanded into leagues, clinics, specialty camps, and AAU teams under Fam Hoops South. I’ve been able to help over 20+ athletes earn college opportunities since 2022, and that’s a huge part of my “why.” The Pit Center isn’t just a gym; it’s become a hub for development, mentorship, competition, and community. Every step of the journey has been about growing the game in Alvin and the Houston area and creating a space where athletes feel challenged, supported, and inspired.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No it has not. It’s taken a lot of time and patience. Figuring out how to build clientele and relations was tough at first being a black woman running a sports business but through relationship and community I have built a great basketball community at the pit

Basketball training, mentorship. I’m most proud of the development of my players. We specialize in shooting and player development
