Daily Inspiration: Meet Chiedozie Iroh

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chiedozie Iroh

Hi Chiedozie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I came from humble beginnings, growing up in Houston, Texas, as a first-generation American from Nigeria. My journey began with a passion for sports. Playing sports has always been the core of my life and shaped the path I’ve followed. As an athlete, I’ve always been inspired by the professional athletes I watched on TV and social media. The inspiration came from athletes featured in big movies, brand commercials, and video games. That’s when the idea of acting and modeling grabbed my attention. After playing multiple sports and gaining work experience in the sports industry, I shifted my focus and pursued a career in acting and modeling. Today, I’m proud to be signed with a top talent and modeling agency, turning my passion into a reality.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My journey hasn’t always been a smooth road. Growing up with hoop dreams, I played multiple sports, like basketball, football, and soccer. I aspired to play basketball at a top university and make it to the NBA to take care of my family. I faced many obstacles on my basketball journey, and I learned a lot of powerful life lessons that shaped me into the man I am today. From my experience as an athlete, overcoming challenges was part of the journey. I often feel and emphasize for young athletes today who are in the same position I was in. In the world of Sports, social dynamics and politics come into play in the recruiting process of athletes pursuing a scholarship. One of the biggest obstacles I faced as an athlete was navigating the recruiting and the upfront financial cost it took to get noticed by college coaches and scouts. In the recruiting process for sports, kids from well-off families have the advantage of access to private coaching, elite camps, and better connections, while talented athletes from less privileged backgrounds often struggle to afford these opportunities. I didn’t realize how costly exposure and recruitment were until I started my journey later than most people. Nowadays, the cost of getting noticed is even higher, with AAU and club teams becoming major expenses. Most of the biggest expenses for young athletes today come from travel expenses, team fees, gear, and professional videos. Playing on an AAU team is critical for young athletes since that’s when college coaches are recruiting heavily after the end of their season. I see talent from less prominent backgrounds get constantly overlooked in favor of players from well-off families who bring more attention or sponsorships to the AAU coaches and organizers of tournaments. Competition is increasing more than ever, thanks to social media and NIL. Nowadays, I’m starting to see many young kids with social media accounts managed by their parents to get them early in the recruiting process. I predict in leagues like the NBA and NFL, you will see a lot of Jr’s from parents who were pro athletes or kids from more well-off families.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a model and actor currently represented by NaturallyFitAgency, a Top talent/model agency that works with professional athletes, Olympians, and influencers. The agency specializes in placing talent in high-profile commercials, brand campaigns, and major productions, including popular Netflix series. Some of their talent has recently been featured in popular shows like All American on CW and Netflix. The agency has opened so many doors for me, allowing me to connect with amazing creatives in the industry. My acting coach from the agency, Nikki SooHoo, a well-known Hollywood actor, has been a great mentor as I pursue my acting career in film, TV, commercials, and voice acting. Thanks to my agent, I recently had the opportunity to audition for several commercials with brands like Fitness Connection, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Snapchat. The opportunities they’ve provided have helped me learn so much about the industry. My background as an athlete and the agency’s support has motivated me to push boundaries and strive for excellence in this competitive industry. I’m blessed and thankful to have built relationships with great people in this space.

How do you define success?
My definition of success is accomplishing the life you envision and becoming the person you aspire to be. What I saw as success growing up was the life of successful professional athletes. I looked at athletes like LeBron James, Michael Jordan, Deion Sanders, and Kobe Bryant as the blueprint for success. Their legendary stories and how they inspired people stuck with me. They built a legacy people will always remember. I admired how they created a network of successful friends, took care of everyone around them, and earned respect through their actions. I want to be that kind of man—someone who takes care of their loved ones, strives for greatness and is surrounded by people who want to succeed. A man who is ambitious and is always striving for excellence in every endeavor. I want to see everyone in my circle thriving and winning in life. Every day, I’m on a mission to achieve the life I dreamed of. I will make that vision a reality and turn my dreams into something concrete and everlasting.
