Daily Inspiration: Meet Christopher Nguyen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Nguyen.

Hi Christopher, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
If you told me I’d be modeling 3 years ago I probably would’ve laughed in your face. As a kid, I never had any interest in it or even fashion for that matter. It wasn’t until I hit high school that a began to care about my appearance, and not until college that I truly developed my sense of style.

My first casting call experience was a JMulan model call where I was selected and from then on I took off. I took just about every opportunity that was thrown my way. Fast forward to today where I have 3 NYFWs, dozens of shows, and countless photoshoots under my belt, I am truly grateful I took the first step.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Not at all. Modeling at a professional level is deceptively challenging. People don’t see the countless hours spent on the road going to casting calls, working on your walk, and maintaining an attractive body & face, along with the money that comes out of your own pocket.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in runway modeling, that’s where my passion truly lies.

That being said though, I’m a well-rounded model who also does print, product, editorial, and commercial modeling.

I’d say I’m most known for my unique/racially ambiguous features along with my long locs. Apart from my looks, I’d say my attitude sets me apart from others, I take what I do seriously and it shows in my work.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and are any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Life is too uncertain to not pursue your passion. By all means, take care of your responsibilities first, but find time to do what makes you happy.
