Daily Inspiration: Meet Daisy Sudderth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daisy Sudderth.

Hi Daisy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
When I was 13, I was approached by an old man in disguise as a young boy. As a vulnerable 13-year-old girl who craved attention, I was taken advantage of. Years later after I found that this man had been found to have thousands of child pornography and the bones of a teenage girl under his carpet. This sparked an absolute spark in me to inspire young women that they are beautiful and not to seek attention and love in other people. I founded my own nonprofit through my year as Miss Nebraska Teen USA 2021, called “Girls Changing the World”. “Girls Changing the World” is a mentorship program that helps build young girls self-confidence through different activities and community events. Now, as a Sophomore in college at the University of Houston, I am paving a lasting impact on the student body as the President of UH Women of Gold which fosters a community for women on campus to embrace and love who they are. I am a member of the Black Press, Uh Pre-Law, and Mock Trial. My hope for the future is to become an attorney representing victims and putting child predators behind bars.

I lived in Turkey from elementary school to the end of middle school. I was evacuated and a part of the US military coup in 2016. I was then forced to live in Germany by myself (with the help of my sister) while I waited to be reunited with my mom.

My love for advocacy truly began after my sister’s transition of life from male to female. I had always accepted who she was because it was my “normal” but to see people whose lifestyle was just like hers to be murdered for just surviving pushed me to want to advocate for all people no matter who they love, worship, how they look, and how they choose to live their life.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
CEO/Founder of my own nonprofit “Girls Changing the World”.

I am most proud of the way that I have taken my trauma and turned it to advocating and protecting young girls from going through what I had to go through.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
