Daily Inspiration: Meet Dameion “dmr” Robinson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dameion “dmr” Robinson

Hi Dameion “dmr”, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
The inception of the Back 2 The Lab came to me during the time I spent incarcerated for two years. Upon release, my feet hit the ground running starting with Instagram posts that paid homage to Hip-Hop legends. I gradually got into doing live streams highlighting album anniversaries and artists’ birthdays. Now we have an official podcast, merchandise, and close to 100K followers total on our social media accounts.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The only struggles have been mentally. Learning how to be patient was the biggest struggle because I felt we deserved a huge following early in the game. But, I’ve adapted to letting nature take it’s course. The numbers increased once I started focusing on just providing engaging content for Hip-Hop lovers out there. Speculations of ‘gatekeeping’ in this industry has been a challenge even though it’s more opinionated versus having actual proof that affects us directly. However consistency with networking endeavors and creating live events has aligned us with industry notables that contribute to our growth and success. Back 2 The Lab is evolving and we’re looking forward to future projects.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
In addition to the dedicated work I put into the success of Back 2 The Lab I’m one of the founders of Hip-Hop Commision Worldwide. HHCW is a collective of like minded leaders with their own platforms that contribute to the culture. We work to provide daily social media content for entertainment and education. I also used my creative artistry as an MC to develop music including solo and collaborative projects. The most recent is EP titled NY2TX Connection in association with producer Tall Genius and Rich Notch of NYC. I’m especially proud of one of my solo tracks ‘Sonuvadrumma’ which is streaming on several platforms as well as video that is available on YouTube.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My most favorite childhood memory was performing on stage for my 5th grade classmates during lunch break back at Atherton Elementary School. I still remember that verse, too.
