Daily Inspiration: Meet Ego

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ego

Hi Ego, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
If you know me, you know one of my favorite things to say is, good things happen around my birthday (March 4). It’s a pattern I’ve seen unfold time and time again. On March 2, 2018, just days before my birthday, I received my first law school acceptance—a moment that set the stage for the next chapter of my life. And a year earlier, on March 9, 2017, Astoldbyego was born, a brand I created without fully realizing its potential.

Now, years later, I see how both of these moments were just the beginning of a journey that continues to unfold in ways I never could have imagined., I created an Instagram page—without fully realizing that I was planting the seed for something much bigger. I wasn’t ready then, but life has a way of preparing you for what’s meant to be.

Looking back, content creation was always in me. In high school, I had a YouTube channel, experimenting with videos long before social media became the powerhouse it is today. I just didn’t have the direction or the plan. Now, at 29, I do. I’m growing my personal brand daily, refining my vision, and building something meaningful. And as I elevate my own journey, I’m also expanding into entrepreneurship with The Ego Edit, my newest venture designed to help others master the art of digital presence.

What started as a YouTube channel in my youth—just me experimenting with videos and sharing my creativity—has evolved into a brand, a business, and a blueprint for the future. And this is only the beginning.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road—in fact, it was tough and still is. But no good thing comes easy, and every challenge has shaped me into who I am today. I always knew I had the creativity, the vision, and the skill, but I had to perfect my craft and truly find my lane. A big part of that journey was figuring out what I wanted Astoldbyego to be and what type of content genuinely fueled me. I revisited YouTube while in law school, but I never truly loved it. I always knew I wanted to create, but I didn’t know where my “why” was—what platform would give me purpose—until I found TikTok.

Content creation pushes you in ways most people won’t understand. It’s not just about posting—it’s about consistency, showing up even when you don’t feel 100%, and committing to being a student for life. Balancing Astoldbyego with law school—and later, my legal career—was tough and still is. There are moments of doubt, burnout, and questioning if I can juggle it all. But beyond that, one of my biggest struggles has been truly believing that I am who I think I am. Imposter syndrome creeps in, making me wonder if I’m doing enough or if people are really paying attention.

But over time, I’ve realized that success isn’t about having the perfect path—it’s about staying committed, evolving, and trusting yourself even when the journey feels uncertain. Now, as I continue growing Astoldbyego and expanding my new business, The Ego Edit, I know the road won’t always be easy. But I also know I’m built for it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I wear many hats—attorney by day, content powerhouse by night, and a business owner in between. My work spans multiple industries, but at the core of everything I do is strategy, creativity, and execution.

As an Intellectual Property and Artificial Intelligence attorney, I navigate the complex intersection of technology, innovation, and the law. My work involves protecting brands, ensuring legal compliance, and advising on the rapidly evolving AI landscape. It’s a field that requires a deep understanding of both law and emerging technologies, and I take pride in being at the forefront of these conversations.

Beyond the legal world, I am also a content creator and influencer. Through Astoldbyego, I’ve built a brand that merges lifestyle, beauty, fashion, and professional insight. Whether I’m sharing my experiences as an attorney, highlighting the best spots in Houston, or giving people the tools to elevate their own content, my platform is about authenticity, confidence, and storytelling.

And now, I’m expanding into entrepreneurship as the founder of The Ego Edit, where creativity meets strategy. The Ego Edit is all about refining digital presence—helping creators and brands develop content that not only looks good but also makes an impact. From social media management to content strategy and consulting, I’m bringing my expertise to help others build and scale their online presence with intention.

What sets me apart is my ability to balance it all—leveraging my legal expertise, creativity, and business acumen to carve out a unique space for myself. I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve built my career on my own terms, proving that you don’t have to fit into just one box. You can be a powerhouse in multiple industries—you just have to be willing to do the work.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe a sustainable business is built on luck—I believe it’s built on strategy, consistency, and execution. Attributing success to luck negates the hard work, dedication, and countless hours that go into building something real. Some people may get lucky, but luck alone doesn’t create longevity.

What sets me apart is that I am where I am because I did the work to get here—and more importantly, I put in the effort to sustain being here. Whether it’s my legal career, my personal brand, or The Ego Edit, none of it happened by chance. It took learning, adapting, and consistently showing up, even when the results weren’t immediate.

That’s not to say that timing and opportunities don’t play a role—sometimes the right moment aligns with preparation, and things fall into place. But when that happens, it’s not just luck; it’s the result of being ready when the opportunity comes. And that’s what I focus on—doing the work so that when the moment presents itself, I’m already positioned to take advantage of it.
