Daily Inspiration: Meet Emily Rivera

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Rivera

Hi Emily, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I got into nails when I was 18 , it was a great way to get my mind off things after my brother passed away. It took a really big toll on me , it changed me as a person . It was very rough at first , I was working another job , as well as doing nails , I would wake up at 7am to do a client, once I was done I would clock into work and repeat it everyday. I quit my job to focus on nails full time , I would work 24 hours a week, 7 days a week. A lot of people don’t talk about how hard it is to start your own business, build clientele and relationships with your clients and to keep it going. I’ve had sleepless nights , I’ve cried and wanted to give up so many times , I fought those tears and kept going no matter what was thrown at me in life, I never let my personal life affect my business. As of today I’ve been able to do what I love as my full time job . I’m booked every week, I’m now in a suite of my own. I work 24/7 , I’ve been able to gain followers with my content and more! I’m so grateful I never stopped going! I wouldn’t be where I am today.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, I wanted to give up so many times. A lot of people don’t tell you it’s hard the first year, to build clients , to having non booked days and weeks. I struggled a lot with gaining clients. So I had a job on the side to support what I wanted to do. I saved as much as I could to keep going! No handouts, just me! Of course I was a beginner so not a lot of people wanted to book. As many times as I wanted to stop , I didn’t, I kept going, until this day I still cry and stress because I know I can keep going further than I am now.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in acrylic nails &’ toes . I like to think of myself as an artist. I can go from these very detailed nail sets to very minimal sets. I can draw characters to sculpting things out. I’m most known for the wild and crazy sets my clients give me! They love to challenge my artistic skills , and I never turn them down! I love to push myself to learn more and more everyday! Im most proud of the person I became . I never stopped reaching for the stars no matter what I been through in life. I have such a different look on life and how much potential I actually have , so I keep pushing to make the ones who are longer with me, proud. What sets me apart from others is , I’m my own person, I’m going to always put my business first, I love to chat with my clients and give them the best experience possible! I’m a very outgoing person , I listen to my clients and give them exactly what they ask for!

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I’m actually only 3 years into the nail industry and I’m able to live off of what I love to do! I’m booked weeks on weeks , months ahead at times. I would’ve never thought I’d be this far, as some still struggle around 3 years! I’m super grateful that my clients chose me.
