Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Lopez.
Hi Erica, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have been a bedside Registered Nurse for 15 years. I began thinking outside the box about my own opportunities to supplement my income and have a more flexible schedule. I also saw the interest in IV hydration within my community and started looking for ways I could provide that service. Today, I have a business module that allows my patients to schedule IV hydration appointments in their own home!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I feel confident about my skills as a Registered Nurse, but did face some challenges trying to become a business owner. There were so many details I had to address, and it was overwhelming. It is important to me to not only provide a service but to also be trusted and compliant in doing so. Finding the right partnership for a medical director and inventory was the first hurdle. The other obstacle I faced was developing a social media presence to put my business out there.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Registered Nurse in women’s health. I have been helping women all around the Houston area during their labor and delivery experience. This is where I developed my IV skills. As of recent, I do contract/PRN work for most local hospitals. I thoroughly enjoy helping others, and through my IV business, I can help outside the hospital setting as well. What I am most proud of is the opportunity to show my children the possibilities of owning your own business.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Patience has been the best quality to success. Trying to create a successful business does not happen immediately for most, so continuing to believe in your business and pushing forward is key.
