Today we’d like to introduce you to ERICK LOPEZ.
Hi ERICK, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am Erick Lopez, I was born in Honduras and raised in Miami, Florida. As a young boy my parents taught me how to be efficient with my hands and use the resources, I had available at the time. To this day, I am beyond grateful for their teachings. My wife, Valeria Lopez, and I got married back in 2014. We have known each other since 2011. Starting out our humble life together, we were able to rent our first apartment. While being there we always tried to come up with creative DIY’s that will not interfere when we had to finish our lease. We were always updating the apartment to the best of our limitations on the lease. As millennials, in the unfortunate cycle of renting and the expensive lifestyle down in South Florida, we were unable to establish our business there. After many obstacles faced, we are glad to say we were able to overcome those and see the light at the end of a dark tunnel. After making the decision to move out here to the Welcoming state of Texas in 2019, it was always a dream of mine to be able to open my own business. However, my wife was very skeptical moving in that direction. This decision was not one that we came to lightly which meant more convincing on my part. After a lot of hard work and years of renting, we were finally able to buy our first home. As you can imagine the projects list of DIYs was endless.
While we had many conversations about starting our own business, we finally weighed the pros and cons. To my luck the pros outweighed the cons, and we made the decision together to pursue our business. As I mentioned, I have always been very handy, crafty, and can think on my feet. We decided to start our handyman business. I can truly say, my wife is very handy and has helped me in many projects. In all honesty, she decided to take on the administrative role of our business. We love working together, bouncing ideas off one another. From the start of the project with estimates all throughout end of the project, we communicate to not only benefit our client, but to be as efficient as possible for our business.
Our company, Handyman Lopez, LLC. provides in-person high-quality repairs for residential and commercial clients. We are a family-owned business. We have made it our mission to prioritize our clients’ needs, as everyone deserves a dedicated, loyal, and reliable handyman to bring those projects and repairs to the home or business. We are the local handymen that or clients can trust to go above and beyond to bring everything back to its perfect condition or complete projects to their home or business with quality. While doing the repairs the right way and making the clients’ problems, our solutions.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey to attaining our business has been a rough one, if I can be honest. As I mentioned, I initially wanted to start the business in South Florida. Due to financial instability, lack of resources, lack of time, and low paying jobs I was unable to make this come true. After establishing our family here in Texas, we were able to save, which in turn led us to not only be able to start our business. This savings also allowed us to buy our first home.
After establishing the business, we have been able to advertise our business on different social media platforms, one local magazine, and referrals. I will not forget to mention the old school way of going personally to homes in our area handing out door hangers, which we still do. While doing our part to show our community that we are the local handymen that are dedicated, loyal, and reliable it has been a lot smoother than we anticipated.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Unfortunately, handymen do not have a respected reputation. We have made it our priority and our mission for clients, and our soon to be clients to know that we are their loyal, reliable, and TRUSTWORTHY handymen. The word trustworthy is in capital letters on purpose. As we know there are many clients out there that have been scammed by someone in our industry.
