Today we’d like to introduce you to GEISHA THOMPSON Miller.
Hi GEISHA, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always believed that every family has a story worth preserving. I was born in Jamaica and later made the United States my home, where I’ve worked in the airline industry for many years. While balancing work, family, and everyday responsibilities, I never let go of my dream of becoming a filmmaker.
Growing up, I was surrounded by stories—especially those of my mother, Veronica, whose life was filled with love, sacrifice, hardship, resilience, and faith. As time passed, I realized that if I didn’t preserve her story, an important part of our family’s history could be lost forever.
Although I didn’t come from a traditional filmmaking background, I committed myself to learning every aspect of the craft., I embraced new technology and began learning how AI could be used as a creative tool. I taught myself how to combine writing, cinematic storytelling, visual design, music, and editing to bring my vision to life. What began as a personal tribute evolved into Mamma – A Mother Who Never Gives Up, an AI-assisted historical feature film inspired by true events.
Today, I write, direct, and produce the project under Black Geisha Productions. Every scene is created with the long-term goal of producing a live-action feature film that preserves Jamaican history, culture, and family stories for future generations. I’ve created over 42 short proof-of-concept episodes, a trailer, an executive pitch package, and I’m continuing to develop both the feature screenplay and a companion book. My goal is to tell authentic Caribbean stories that resonate with audiences around the world while proving that it’s never too late to pursue a dream.
For me, this journey has never been just about making a film. It’s about honoring my mother’s legacy, preserving Jamaican culture, inspiring others to believe in their dreams, and showing that determination and creativity can open doors at any stage of life.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road, but every challenge has strengthened my determination. Like many independent filmmakers, I’ve balanced a full-time career, family responsibilities, and financial commitments while pursuing my dream. Every part of Mamma – A Mother Who Never Gives Up has been built through countless late nights, weekends, and a willingness to continually learn new skills.
One of my biggest challenges was entering the film industry without a traditional filmmaking background. I had to teach myself screenwriting, AI-assisted filmmaking, visual storytelling, music direction, editing, and production. There were moments of doubt, technical setbacks, and times when I questioned whether I could bring such an ambitious project to life.
Another challenge has been creating an authentic story while honoring my family’s history. Because Mamma is inspired by true events, I feel a deep responsibility to tell the story with honesty, respect, and emotional authenticity.
Despite the obstacles, I never lost sight of why I started. Every completed episode, every lesson learned, and every person who connects with the story reminds me that perseverance matters. Those challenges have made me a stronger storyteller and reinforced my belief that it’s never too late to pursue a dream.

I am a writer, filmmaker, and founder of Black Geisha Productions, where I create emotionally driven stories that celebrate Caribbean culture, family, resilience, and faith. While I have worked for many years outside the entertainment industry, storytelling has always been my passion. Today, I am turning that lifelong dream into reality by combining traditional storytelling with AI-assisted filmmaking to independently produce cinematic period dramas.
My current project, Mamma – A Mother Who Never Gives Up, is inspired by my mother’s true life story in Jamaica. It follows a woman whose journey through love, betrayal, motherhood, and forgiveness reveals long-hidden family secrets and the unbreakable strength of a mother’s love. What began as a desire to preserve my family’s history has grown into a feature film project supported by a growing collection of short cinematic episodes, trailers, and visual storytelling.
I specialize in creating emotionally authentic period dramas that blend rich Caribbean history with universal themes that resonate across cultures. My goal is to tell stories that inspire hope, encourage healing, and remind people that even the most ordinary lives can contain extraordinary journeys.
What I’m most proud of is proving that determination can overcome limited resources. Without a traditional studio, large production budget, or film school background, I have taught myself AI filmmaking, built my own production company, and produced dozens of cinematic short episodes while continuing to work full-time. Every project has brought me closer to my vision of creating feature films that can reach audiences around the world.
What sets me apart is that my stories come from lived experience. They are rooted in real people, real emotions, and real history. I believe technology should never replace authentic storytelling—it should help more meaningful stories find an audience. My mission is to use innovation to bring overlooked Caribbean stories to the global stage and inspire others to believe that it’s never too late to pursue the dream God has placed in their hearts.

What matters most to me is living a life with purpose and creating something that lasts.
I believe stories have the power to preserve history, connect generations, and help people see themselves in someone else’s journey. That’s what drives me as a filmmaker.
What matters to me is using creativity to build a legacy—one that celebrates Caribbean culture, honors the resilience of everyday people, and encourages others to pursue dreams regardless of age or circumstances.
I’m also passionate about lifelong learning. I taught myself AI-assisted filmmaking because I saw an opportunity to tell meaningful stories in a new way, even without the resources of a traditional studio. Every challenge has strengthened my determination to keep creating.
Ultimately, I hope my work leaves people with hope. If someone watches one of my films and feels inspired to forgive, to persevere, or to believe that their own story matters, then I’ve accomplished something worthwhile.
