Daily Inspiration: Meet Ian Benedetti

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ian Benedetti.

Hi Ian, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey in the real estate space began in my home country, Venezuela, where I worked with a group of commercial and residential real estate developers as a project manager for their new-builds in the late 2000s. In 2021, I decided to get my real estate agent license and join a brokerage that focuses on helping new and experienced investors find their next flips and rentals. My passion for construction and remodeling, along with my network of local contractors, subcontractors and real estate-related professionals has allowed me to add value to the people in my circle.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have been and there will always be challenges. The more experience I gain, the quicker I adapt.

Before getting my real estate license, I worked for oil and gas service companies and the struggles there were different from the ones in my current business, working long shifts, being responsible for multi-million-dollar equipment/projects and being away from home for long periods of time.

The first obstacle I overcame in my current business was prospecting. I had never done any marketing so I heavily invested some resources to learn about it and take action. I worked on my social media and marketing channels and that’s how I began building up my network.

Every investor and their strategy vary, so making sure I know what they’re trying to accomplish is a priority to me. The more I know about their real estate investment goals, the better I can help them, so taking time in the beginning phase of working together is crucial.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
In a nutshell, I help people invest in real estate in and around Houston.

I typically market about 14+ properties a week in the greater Houston area, that I offer to my local, out-of-state and foreign investors. These properties can be either add-value, where they need to be improved/remodeled/fixed and sold for a profit, or turn-key, which essentially means they are ready to be sold or operated.

For the most part, I focus on residential properties, like SFH (single-family homes), but I also help people acquire small multi-family properties (generally duplexes, triplexes, quads and commonly buildings under 20 units). Sometimes I have land available for developers, which can be used for residential or commercial purposes, depending on the location and its restrictions, if there are any.

In general, along with my company, I provide investment opportunities in the real estate space in the Houston area to new and experienced investors that are looking to buy, fix and sell, or to hold as rentals.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Many people deserve credit for my success!

My family has been very supportive in my real estate journey, especially my wife Gaby.

I have a great team at New Western that works hard to be efficient in our process of finding these properties and offering them to our investors. We have a strong group of acquisition agents and great leadership in my office.

Scott McAlpine is the general manager of my office. He interviewed me, gave me the opportunity to work in his office and has always been available and ready to jump in when needed.

I thank Lulu Gomez for encouraging me to get my real estate license when I had no idea I would discover a “job” that I enjoy doing this much.

I thank my investors for their trust and for allowing me to help them acquire properties that fit or exceed their goals.

I am grateful for the network of contractors, lenders, material suppliers, appraisers, realtors and insurance agents we’ve built together and that make my investors’ journey so much easier.
