Daily Inspiration: Meet Javon Talley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Javon Talley.

Hi Javon, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Ever since I was a child, I knew I wanted to run my own business. The problem was I didn’t know what I wanted to do. Since elementary school, from 2nd grade to 6th grade, I was called the candy man. And not because of the movie, but because when you found me on campus, my book bag was filled with snacks and I would sell them and come home with at least 30 dollars a day. But that wasn’t enough for me. I wanted to do more; I wanted to run a business that was going to be remembered for making a difference. When starting The Royal Falcon Brand, I knew I had to create a business that not only felt exclusive but inclusive because this brand was and is for the people.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I have been fortunate to run my business for the past five years and counting. However, it was as smooth as it is now. Growing up, I was surrounded by people with a crab in the bucket mentality. Everyone wants to see you do great but never support you when you try and that is where my business struggled but also succeeded. I took the non-support from family and friends to encourage that I will make something bigger than myself. Starting my business at the age of eighteen, nobody took me seriously. Even though I had a mission to help the community, everyone saw me as a kid who would not succeed. So I took matters into my own hand and made those same people who told me no pay extra to all of my events.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
The diversity. While America is a big melting pot, in Charleston, you are in the heart of it all. I don’t like that WWE does not come here often, lol.
