Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Davis.
Hi Jonathan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I recently separated from the Navy in October 2024. I was active duty for 11 years. I started cutting hair while serving because I wanted to learn how to cut my own, but my peers had other plans. They challenged me to cut their heads as well and I fell in love with the craft. I have been cutting hair for almost ten years now. Once I separated from the military I moved here to Texas from Virginia. I’m currently in barber school at Mystros barber academy to be licensed in the state of Texas and start my barber career full time. I’m married with three kids who I wanted to provide a comfortable lifestyle for.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been pretty smooth since I’ve been out of the navy because I have free time now and it is my primary job. While I was active duty it was difficult balancing work, home, and barbering.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a barber. I specialize in being able to cut different textures of hair. I am just proud of enrolling in barber school to attain my goals. What sets me apart from others is my attention to detail and my ability to learn and adapt.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
All the glory belongs to God. He is first. My wife and kids have been my biggest supporters. They have had to share me with clients for years while I was in the military. But now that I’m out, I have more time with them. So I’m very thankful that my wife provided time for me to master my craft.
