Today we’d like to introduce you to Jourdan Moore
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Ive been in the beauty industry professionally for over 15 years—and unprofessionally since grade school!
My love for hairstyling started in my childhood kitchen, watching my neighbor practice on my mom’s hair. I’d come home from school to find them “trying something different,” laughing, and having fun. I was hooked—not just by the transformations, but by the connection and creativity.
By elementary school, I was already playing with hair—mine, my friends’, anyone who’d let me. I always knew I wanted to do hair, but I didn’t realize at the time how fulfilling it could be as a career.
Right before heading off to college, I met a girl I was waitressing with who was attending Paul Mitchell Hair School. I had no idea there was an actual school for hair—it felt like fate. I’m a visual learner, and working with my hands just clicked. Hair school was everything I hoped for, and I got to experience it with my best friend, who’s now a successful makeup artist.
My first job was at Etheria Salon and Spa, where I spent eight years growing my skills. During that time, I became an Educator for Kérastase, which led to working at New York Fashion Week!
Eventually, I felt the itch to try something new and moved to Los Angeles, landing a position at Nine Zero One, a celebrity salon where I worked with some amazing clients. But even with the excitement, something was missing.
Love and life brought me back to Houston, and after getting married, I knew it was time to build something of my own. With my husband’s construction background, we created Mane Form Salon— it was an intimate space with five chairs and I loved it.
Not long after opening, I became the Hair Sponsor for Miss Texas & Miss Texas Teen, which was a fun and busy experience. Shortly after, I had my son and decided to step back to focus on my family.
Eventually, Mane Form outgrew its space, and we expanded to what it is today—a thriving salon with 11 talented hairstylists and 1 makeup artist.
After having my son, I found new inspiration, balancing motherhood with my passion. I’ve been fortunate to work with incredible clients, and got to work with some celebrities as well, including Jessica Alba and Shay Mitchell.
I feel so blessed for every twist and turn my career has taken me and truly love what I do!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Covid was a big transformative period for me as a stylist. When we were forced to stay home it really allowed me to slow down and realize I didn’t want to work for anyone anymore. I decided to move into a tiny suite with my assistant at the time.
I ended up hating working in a suite because of the lack of community and that’s what drove me to end up opening Mane Form Salon!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Color and Extension specialist, but I love styling and haircutting as well.
I feel like I am known for my blonde techniques and extensions.
I am most proud when I meet woman who have been struggling with their hair and I am able to create a look for them that they feel confident in!
I feel like what sets me apart from others is my ability to work fast with out sacrificing the quality of my work. I also have a no drama policy. I want to create a safe place for my clients to be able trust me and know that I’ll always have their back!
