Hi Katy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey into wedding planning began with a natural love for organization, creativity, and celebrating meaningful moments. That passion first showed up years ago while planning my boys’ birthday parties, where I discovered how much joy I found in creating thoughtful, memorable experiences. What started as planning celebrations for family and friends gradually grew into something more meaningful. After spending over 15 years in hotel and hospitality management, I truly found my niche while working closely with weddings and events. It was there that I realized how much I genuinely enjoyed guiding couples through one of the most important seasons of their lives, ultimately leading me to launch my own wedding planning business
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road, but every challenge has helped shape both my business and my approach to planning. Transitioning from a structured hospitality career into entrepreneurship came with a learning curve, from building brand awareness to navigating the business side of running my own company in a competitive industry.
The wedding industry is constantly evolving, requiring adaptability and resilience. There are long hours and high-pressure moments behind the scenes, but those experiences have strengthened my systems, communication, and vendor relationships. Each challenge has ultimately made me a stronger planner and better able to create a seamless, supportive experience for my couples

What started as helping friends and family plan events quickly turned into something much bigger when I realized how much I genuinely enjoyed guiding couples through one of the most important seasons of their lives.
I officially founded KNZ Weddings and Events to provide couples with a planning experience that feels personal, supportive, and stress-free. Early on, I saw that many couples felt overwhelmed by choices, budgets, and expectations, and I wanted to create a service that helped them feel confident and cared for from the very beginning of the process through the wedding day itself.
Over time, my business has grown throughout the Houston area as I’ve built strong relationships with vendors and venues and developed a planning style centered on communication, thoughtful design, and seamless execution. Each wedding has shaped how I approach planning today — blending logistics with creativity so couples can truly be present and enjoy their celebration.
Today, I focus on helping couples bring their vision to life while making the planning process feel organized, collaborative, and enjoyable. Seeing everything come together and watching couples experience their day without stress is still my favorite part of what I do, and it’s what continues to inspire me every season.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as creating meaningful experiences while building a business that reflects my values. For me, it’s not just about growth or milestones, but about knowing my couples feel supported, confident, and truly able to enjoy their wedding day. When a couple can be fully present in the moment because everything has been thoughtfully planned and executed, that’s success to me. It also means continuing to grow, evolve, and make a positive impact within the industry and the community I serve.
