Today we’d like to introduce you to Kemelya Scott
Kemelya, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My family is from a small town. Growing up, I was taught to always go with the flow, Fit in, and grow up to find a good 9-5. It never set well with me. I always felt like I didn’t belong. As a kid, I dreamed of a place I had never been as I went through some of the hardest traumas I faced as a kid.
Here I am now. I have gone to those places and made room for myself outside a corporate office. Finding myself in the world of creating. My son helped push those goals. While I might not have a traditional family, we all work to support one another. I want my family to know the sky is not the limit. I want everyone to know there is no limit. Don’t box yourself in, and don’t allow others to box you in. There is a moon, stars, sun, and beyond.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When do struggles ever end? Life is a journey. In that journey, you face your good and your bad. Unfortunately, I have faced hardships that are all so common for many. I can remember from a young age being oversexualized, SA, grooming, sexism, domestic violence, poverty, mental illness, and many more struggles.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I love what I do because it allows me to spend more time with my family. It’s how I can leave a positive footprint on the world, especially for people like me and who look like me. I help other small businesses in the area with creating branding and marketing plans. I love making my own schedule and working on the go. Being able to create content anywhere in the world.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Love you even on the hardest of days. Stick to the plan even on the most challenging days. Never give up on you. You should have a strong contract to yourself and never break it. Then, in return, you can take care of the people you love and then, next, your community.
