Today we’d like to introduce you to Kris Kandy.
Hi Kris , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My entrepreneurial journey began in 2015 with fashion. Inspired by my love for women’s heels, I took a leap of faith and opened my own shoe boutique. That first business taught me the value of vision, resilience, and believing in myself.
Every venture since then has been another step toward building the life and legacy I envision. My journey in the nail industry began in 2018 when I discovered my passion for helping people feel confident through self-care and beauty services. What started as a creative outlet quickly grew into a career that allowed me to connect with people and make a positive impact in their lives.
Over the years, I have continued to develop my skills as a licensed nail technician and instructor while building my brand serving clients and educating upcoming nail techs. Through my work, I learned that nail services are about more than appearance they can restore confidence, provide relaxation, and create meaningful connections.
Today, I am expanding my impact through the Pretty Again Project, a volunteer initiative that provides nail care services to senior citizens, women in shelters, and women in halfway houses. My goal is to use my skills to help others feel valued, beautiful, and empowered while continuing to grow as both a beauty professional and community leader.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road, but every challenge has helped shape who I am today. Like many beauty professionals, I faced the challenge of building a clientele, balancing work and family responsibilities, and navigating the ups and downs of entrepreneurship. There were times when business was slow, and I questioned whether I should continue pursuing my goals.
Another challenge was helping others understand that nail care is more than just a cosmetic service. I have always believed that self-care can restore confidence and improve a person’s well-being. Learning how to communicate that value while growing my business took time and persistence.
Despite these obstacles, I remained committed to improving my skills, serving my clients with excellence, and finding ways to make a positive impact in my community. Those experiences inspired me to create the Pretty Again Project, which allows me to use my talents to serve senior citizens, women in shelters, and women in transitional housing. Looking back, the challenges were not setbacks they were opportunities that helped me grow both personally and professionally.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a licensed nail technician who specializes in healthy nail care, acrylics, builder gel overlays, natural nail enhancement, and creating a luxury experience for every client. I am known for Abstract Art, Cartoon Designs and Custom Freestyle Creations!
What I am most proud of is using my skills to serve others beyond the salon. Through the Pretty Again Project, I volunteer my time providing nail care services to senior citizens, women in shelters, and women in transitional housing. Seeing someone’s confidence restored through something as simple as a manicure is incredibly rewarding and reminds me why I started this journey.
What sets me apart is that I genuinely care about the person behind the service. My goal is not just to make nails look beautiful but to help people feel valued, confident, and cared for. I treat every client like royalty, which is why complimentary hand scrubs, cuticle care, and a personalized experience are standard parts of my service rather than add-ons.
I believe beauty and self-care can be powerful tools for healing and confidence, and I am committed to making a positive impact one manicure at a time.
