Daily Inspiration: Meet Liliana Delgado

Today we’d like to introduce you to Liliana Delgado.

Hi Liliana, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
From a young age I had an artistic eye and knew I was destined to create. I love every form of art, allowing me to express myself in ways words cannot. Every year I picked art class as an elective broadening my talent. After high school graduation I took a year to discover myself and find my niche I’d love. While working minimum wage jobs here and there, I had taken an interest in nails. I would get my nails done routinely, but would find myself hopping from shop to shop looking for the best nail tech. It always seemed that I asked for hard designs and couldn’t get what I wanted leaving unsatisfied. In summer 2018 I picked up my first kolinsky nail brush and practiced away. I would do sets on myself learning more and more deepening my aspiration. I later decided I would enroll to be a nail technician and graduate to be licensed. I started booking clients, setting up my portfolio and posting to instagram to showcase my work. I began building confidence in content creating and developed more techniques in my craft to perfect nails. Each day I learned how to be a business woman and promote on social media for people to see my growth. Gaining recognition with word of mouth and creating clientele through my small business has been a beautiful journey and learning experience. I wouldn’t be here today without my loyals pushing me beyond my artistic abilities on a tiny canvas I call nails.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
When I enrolled into trade school it was early 2019 and quickly after came the pandemic, putting my hands on education to a hold. Luckily I was able to do hours online but could only do up to a certain amount. This yet again brought a halt to my learning experience because schools were on lockdown. When School opened back up manicurist students didn’t have a full time instructor the rest of the year due to Covid. During it all I worked a job 6 days a week 10 hour shifts a day to pay my tuition. Attending school and work with clashing schedules and no instructor did get discouraging at times. With no excuses and ambition I found the time to complete my manicurist course. A few hurdles and a longer school year than I anticipated, I managed to achieve my goal.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a licensed Nail technician in Houston,Tx , Specializing in nail enhancements and nail care/health. I practice Russian style maintenance for nails and toes. These are dry services targeting dead/dry skin and cuticle care without the use of water.
I am known for serving my clients exactly what they asked for. I enjoy a challenge and replicating anything in my own artistic way! I will never say no to a certain design! The crazier the better from diamonds galore down to hand painted intricate art or cartoon characters and themes.
I am most proud of finding a career that makes me passionate with every set I create. I’m proud of the bonds and support systems I’ve been blessed with throughout my journey.
What makes me unique is being a private Nail Tech, providing all my clients a one on one self care experience. I use each appointment to learn all my clients specific nail needs. I believe in proper nail enhancements putting my knowledge into my work to ensure my clients get the best care from me possible. I provide a safe space with good vibes for clients to feel welcomed in my chair. Whether it be to vent, to sit in silence and even let me know if they don’t like something. The best part, No waiting for your turn, No being rushed out to meet a quota and no rejection to your dream nails.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Being a small business owner has taught me to be firm yet kind to people, growing my communication skills in a professional manner. I learned to advocate for myself, my business and policy if I wanted to succeed and thrive. Time management has taught me an important lesson as a Nail Tech. Although being very detail oriented with my art is a good trait, time is a big factor for people. I am not for everyone and I humbly understand my pace isn’t the next persons. That is why I love being my own boss and creating my own schedule.
