Today we’d like to introduce you to Marian Villegas
Hi Marian, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was five years old when I started drawing. I didn’t know the journey I was about to start until now. Once I started painting, I couldn’t stop. With time, I learned all the different techniques to paint, such as acrylic, oil, watercolor, and a combination of the others. I learned to identify art through time, learning Impressionism, expressionism, modern art, pop art, among others. I was so curious to learn more and more that without noticing, every time I painted something, people liked it! For me was a pleasant surprise, connect with people through art.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest challenge as an artist is to find who you are behind a canvas, to find your essence. It took me many years to understand that I am very privileged to be able to understand other people’s feelings without saying a word, just using colors, creativity and curiosity. The road is and will always be difficult, but it is up to you to go through adversity with the best attitude, even if you don’t want to.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What I love the most about art is that there are no rules, no limits, you are free. However, my profession is Petroleum Engineer, and yes for me being an engineer is also an artist. What I do every day in engineering is art. I love to paint with bright and neon colors, for me… is to attract a smile and happiness. I am known for mixing many techniques on a canvas. I am the person who will always find the solution to the problem, no matter what, always positive, always enthusiastic, always happy.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I would love to have my own art gallery one day, give voice to new talents and encourage them to always seek more. Now Mablueart is evolving, growing and changing in a very positive way.
