Today we’d like to introduce you to Mario Reyes.
Hi Mario, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Mario, but everyone knows me by Gabriel. “G”. In first grade there was 2 other Mario’s, so we went with my middle name. Houston texas born and raised! 80’S baby… Growing up, I’ve always loved food and enjoyed seeing my mom cook. It took me to another level, and gave me the passion to create recipes from scratch and create 3-course meals when we could afford it. Whether it was black beans and rice, to arroz con pollo, the inspiring foods was enough to explore my life in many ways. I started my savings journey by cleaning cars, airplanes, to picking up trash from Walmart parking lots, to getting an associate degree in information technology. I never liked to be told what to do in my life, but my degree I earned in 2010, didn’t work out either because of the high schoolers that learned the task so quickly at an early age. They were way ahead of me mentally, and got jobs quicker straight out of school which made me lose motivation. A few years later, I learned that If I wanted to accomplish anything in life, I must achieve the goals I wanted for myself, and to go far as possible as I can with it regardless of the complications. Now that I have met my soul mate, she had taught me so much in life that makes me believe that the sky is the limit. I shall go after what I enjoy to do in life, with that, it is to create a unique recipe plan from my roots. I have created a broad plan in life and that is to go far with the knowledge and passion I have for food.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth no. It has been very rough and been hitting every road bump on becoming your own boss and business owner! In Houston, Tx there are many food trucks and small businesses on every corner! Gaining clients and since covid hit. It’s been very rough but with the grace of God and consistency to serve quality product, I’ll never give up on my dream!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
So currently I’m working for my wife’s side business. Beauty Kreations. She is a balloon decorator. Best one in my opinion! I make marquee numbers stands etc. I’m known for cooking but I’m also crafting. What sets me apart is I can do a little of everything.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters to me the most is my family and health! You only get one life to live. Live it to the fullest day in and out! Tomorrow is never promised!
