Today we’d like to introduce you to Misty Campbell
Hi Misty, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Fashion styling has always been a passion of mine and comes quite naturally for me. I have been styling myself and others for years but made it an official business in 2019. Outside of being my own walking advertisement, social media has played a huge part in the marketing and growth of my business. Today my business has allowed me to work with music artist, authors, social media influencers and tv personalities. My work has been featured in fashion shows, the NAACP red carpet and currently scheduled to work with Bravo TV.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been smooth because I chose a path that was slow but steady and I wouldn’t have it any other way. My focus before entreprenuership has always been my children. While entrepreneurship does allow more freedom, the road to get there means sacrifices I was not willing to make. However, this pace really allowed me to build a solid portfolio with clients and the opportunity to work on my craft. It has allowed me to build a reputation where people are now more familiar with my brand. Now with my youngest graduating high school and becoming an empty nester, I’m excited about the journey ahead as I am now able to dive more intently into my business.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As a fashion stylist, I help clients creative an image that tells the story of who they are and what they do. I specialize in bringing to life the conceptualized vision of my clients image that highlights their personality as well as speak to their character. I’m passionate about creating stories with fashion that encapsulate a moment in time and conveys a message to an audience. Working with a broad variety of clients has challenged me to push my creative limits and become an even better story teller. I’m most proud of my opportunity to work with the family of an award-winning children’s show where I style them for the NAACP Awards Red Carpet event. What sets me a part from others is my ability to listen to my clients which has increased my client retention to 90% as well as increased my client referrals. My clients always come back!
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Two important lessons I’ve learned……(1) Regardless of how creative I am, creating an image for a client has to be initially be a collaborative effort. Collaboration builds trust with my clients that eventually leads to more creative freedom for me and as a stylist that is the goal to have 100% autonomy over my creative arts. (2) I play a very important role in the confidence of my clients. The better my clients feel about their image, the more they can approach their role as the best version of themselves leading to increased value and audience impact.
