Today we’d like to introduce you to Mostafa Moussa.
Hi Mostafa, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew up always drawing, whatever and whenever. At school, at home, whenever I could. In 6th grade, somebody handed me a comic book and I was hooked. At that point, I knew what I wanted to do when I grew up. I practiced as much as I could so that I could be ready when I graduated. At 18, I flew out to San Diego Comic-Con and showed my portfolio to every publisher, artist, and editor that I could and got work right away. Each year the jobs got bigger: Image Comics at 18, Marvel at 23 and DC in the last several years. It’s all I’ve ever wanted to do and I haven’t regretted a moment of it.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Along the way, there’s definitely been some bumps: publishers that took forever to pay or flat out didn’t pay what I what owed, projects that I was promised only to be canceled or given to someone else last minute. It comes with the territory, and I had to learn to “get back on the horse” when id get knocked off and keep going.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a professional comic book artist for all the major publishers. I’ve gotten to work on all the things I liked as a kid like Transformers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Batman, Superman, Flash, Fantastic Four, Avengers, XMen…I even got to work with Stan Lee on a few stories, which was really awesome.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
