Daily Inspiration: Meet Officially Drea

Today we’d like to introduce you to Officially Drea.

Officially, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always been a Jack of all trades and to be honest, it’s always been hard for me to stick to just one thing. When I was younger, I loved to sing and write music so I took it very seriously. I even moved to Atlanta to really give it my all simply because that was my passion. After that is when I discovered my talent for modeling and appeared in a few music videos, and NYC rainbow fashion week shows. It was a great experience, but I lacked the passion so I moved on. When I was modeling, I remember finding it extremely hard to find a makeup artist that was capable of perfecting my melanin skin so it made it a lot less fun, and more frustrating. I thought makeup wasn’t for me. Which pushed me to learn both hair and makeup on my own and became really good at it. I began taking talents, but as you can imagine it didn’t last long because although I enjoyed it just wasn’t my passion. I wanted to find a way to incorporate all of these things into my lifestyle. Beauty, acting, everything! I’ve always had quite the personality on me and I love that about myself. It feeds something in me to be able to keep people entertained by simply be myself. So I began content creating. I never want to limit myself, and with content creating, I don’t have to! I can be myself, and showcase what I feel in the moment. I learned to take it day by day and not think so long term. I refuse to settle for just a career, I want to be happy. And incorporating everything I love into my lifestyle instead of sticking to one thing, makes me happy! And I want to influence others to do the same.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As mentioned, I struggled to find my passion. Just because I was talented in it doesn’t mean I had to limit myself. But once I started content creating, it was just different for me all around. I felt like this was my calling.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I based my YouTube channel on my everyday life. I showcase hair tutorials, deep conversation, traveling vlogs, makeup tips, like hacks, and even my dating journey. I’m most proud of my versatility and that’s what sets me apart from others. Lord say you should find your “ niche “ but it was impossible for me to just stick to one thing. Had I listened to that advice, this probably would have been just like all the other failed attempts of trial and error. I commend myself for not limiting myself.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I am NOT a morning person, but something about waking up to motivational “ GET UP AND DO IT” videos on YouTube makes me want to get up singing, cook breakfast, and be productive! It pushes me. So when I need motivation, that’s where I get it from!
