Today we’d like to introduce you to Recardo Bonds II.
Hi Recardo; please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Most of my memories contain phenomenal experiences of my family and I traveling the world, spending lots of quality time together, and being able to express our very own creativity to the maximum capacity.
As far back as I can remember, I’ve always been an optimistic problem-solver, incredibly creative and self-motivating. As a kid, I had an affinity towards art, and I wanted to take art classes in school to hone my craft. Nevertheless, there was always an obstacle that presented itself, preventing me from being able to take the art classes (like upperclass-men filling these elective classes because they needed the credits to graduate or some random technical error that occurred to prevent me from taking the classes). While this would have discouraged most people, it only served to propel me to teach myself everything I wanted to know. I found myself scouring libraries, bookstores, and comic bookstores for art books that I could learn how to draw different things from (this was an ancient era before I knew about YouTube!). I spent countless hours practicing drawing in the car, on airplanes, the restroom, anywhere I had the chance. And don’t worry, I learned. I taught myself so well, that by the time I finally was able to join my first art class, I was so advanced, that I was put into Advanced-Placement Art 4 by my senior year of high school.
I also taught myself how to play piano, produce music, write books/stories, direct films, and much more. When I really want to do something, I make it happen.
Fast-forward a few years, where I graduated Sam Houston State University with my Bachelors of Fine Arts in Computer Animation. During my years in college, I got exposed to, and obsessed with, the idea of entrepreneurship. The idea of owning, running, and doing “my own thing” resonated deeply within my soul, and I instantly wasn’t interested in anything else but that. From that point forward, I knew I would be a successful and very wealthy entrepreneur.
I started multiple online businesses (that didn’t workout at the time, but I was having a blast learning the ins and outs of business, and I loved it!), and even got signed by Page Parkes Talents in Houston, as a professional actor and model! I then started seeing a lot of success in that, as I started landing commercial and model roles with some multi-billion dollar companies, such as: Saks Fifth Avenue, Burberry, The Galleria, H-E-B, GoDaddy, Harry Potter, The Museum of Fine Arts-Houston, The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Academy Sports and Outdoors, Church’s Chicken, Six Flags, and more! I even landed my first movie role, where I had the honor of having a lot of dialogue and screen time, in a documentary named: Police State. A film that premiered in movie theaters, nationally, and my family and I got to see together!
I began realizing how much I enjoyed creating content for brands, and that’s also when I discovered User Generated Content (UGC). I knew I had a natural knack for these things, when during my first week of trying UGC, I landed 10+ new clients (a few being Keeper Tax, xSuit, 32 Degrees, and True Classic).
I’m having a lot of fun and success with UGC, and recently got requested to do some work with Lamborghini!!!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the obstacles you’ve had to overcome?
So, it hasn’t been a smooth road, but I don’t believe there were ever any “obstacles”.
Earlier, I stated that I am an optimistic problem-solver. What this entails to me, is a different perspective of things such as obstacles/challenges.
The definition of obstacle, is a thing that blocks one’s way or prevents or hinders progress. I don’t believe that external things block, prevents, nor hinder’s progress, rather everything serves you to become who you were meant to be.
For example, I wasn’t able to join any art classes that I so desperately wanted to join when I was a kid. Many people would probably see that as an obstacle, and would potentially quit their passion, because of the adversity they were experiencing…
Instead, I saw that as an opportunity to teach myself, and I have no other way of knowing this, other than what I feel within, but I truly believe that was the best course for me. I think I’m better now that I’ve taught myself, rather than the other way around.
It’s an uncommon point of view, but I believe that if you shift your perspective to “everything is happening for a good reason and for your benefit” you lose the ability to view things as an obstacle.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
If I had to choose one word that encompasses everything that I do, it would be CREATOR.
I am passionate about so many different things, but the commonality between them all is I bring things into reality that didn’t exist before.
From art to content creation, music production, inventions, publishing, business conception, and even to my optimistic mindset and viewpoint of reality.
If I had to choose one thing that motivates and inspires me the most and is also what I’m most looking forward to in the future, is being the CEO of a conglomerate of businesses that span across several industries and niches that I am passionate about and building a team of top-performers and innovative minds around me!
I am super proud of my individualism, how much I’ve been able to achieve at such a young age, and my mindset.
I believe that everyone is amazing respectively, but are all here to experience different things. What sets me apart from others, is what I believe sets everyone apart from one another, and it is what I believe I’m here to do – and that is living as authentically as possible, bringing all of my ideas into reality, and changing the world by leading by example.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
As a kid, I really believed I was Spider-Man!
I loved, and still do love the idea of superheroes and how they help and inspire people by doing what they do best.
I also was an innovative thinker as a kid, where after I watched a few cartoons to satisfy my youthful mind, I would spend countless hours watching different science and educational shows such as: MythBusters (my all-time favorite!), Into The Wormhole With Morgan Freeman, Survival Shows with Bear Grylls, the Animal Planet channel, Ancient Aliens, and even How It’s Made.
I’ve always been passionate about learning, and these were the channels that taught me what I wanted to know!
In school, I was always the class-clown (up until high school, if I can remember correctly). I enjoyed making people laugh, and never cared about embarrassing myself to do so. I loved public speaking and was just as comfortable in front of 1 person as I was in front of 1,000. I’ve been like that for as long as I can remember, too. I went to a private elementary school (until the 3rd grade) that had public speaking as a part of our curriculum. It shook some of my classmates to their core, while it was just another Tuesday for me.
I’ve always been an adventurous little fella, which by the way, since I loved Spider-Man so much, I taught myself how to do backflips and parkour, even as a little kid! I mean I was Spider-Man, after all. Whenever we used to visit a playground, I only cared about the monkey bars, and climbing on top of the tallest point of the playground. I was so good at this that my mother felt comfortable with her little 7-year-old climbing to the pinnacle of these places and safely finding my way down… I was actually Spider-Man!
Outside of all of my passions of learning, art, and being Spider-Man, my family and I loved to travel the world, and we did so much traveling, that I’ve had the privilege of visiting most states in the U.S., and even some other countries. That’s also how I discovered my connection to Hawaii… I love Hawaii so much that I’m going to move there soon. We visited once when I was in either middle or early high school, and once again last September (2023), and I have the same love for it as I did the first time – it’s simply the most beautiful place on Earth, in my opinion.
