Daily Inspiration: Meet S DOTT

Today we’d like to introduce you to S DOTT.

Hi S DOTT, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I began playing Zydeco music about 11 years ago. I was the Scrubboard player for Leon Chavis. In 2017-2018. I had an idea to write a song of my own, a Shuffle song as it’s called in the Zydeco world. I contacted another Artist (Koray Broussard) to produce and feature on the track. The song did well but then in 2021 The Song “Slow Wind“ went viral on TikTok. The song then and now went on to having over a million streams on Apple Music. Over a million video streams on TikTok and is being played in different countries around the world. I’m now I guess u can say the first of my kind as a Viral Solo Zydeco Artist. I now travel around the world doing shows of my own. So far, I’ve been everywhere from Mississippi to North Carolina and almost every city in between.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Everything has its ups and downs. Challenging part has just being able to adapt to doing business with different people. Being able to adapt to different businesses scenarios. All that travelling, sometimes late nights early mornings can take a toll on you mentally and physically but I’m thankful for it all. It’s all a blessing.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As an artist that’s writes his own music. I pride myself in my songwriting. I usually always have a story to tell, and I try my best to be creative in painting a picture for the audience. I’m most proud about being able to tell my story having the opportunity to tell my story on platforms like this. Being a zydeco musician with a viral song is great. But what’s even better is making people aware of not just the music. But the beautiful Culture. To most Zydeco people like myself keeping the Zydeco culture alive is most important. I’m most proud of the fact that I’m getting a chance to introduce zydeco to different parts of the world that hasn’t had the experience of what zydeco music even sounds like. What set me apart is I have my own style. Once being called the Bad Boy of zydeco because of the way I dress, the way I perform and interact with the crowd is like none other. After my shows u may not know what kind of artist I am. Zydeco, R&B. Or Southern Soul, which is how I prefer it. I would hate to be put in a box.

Alright, so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I’m actually an artist that likes collaborations. They can contact me on any of my social media platforms or email. Social media obviously is most important in the support factor. So simply sharing my songs. Tagging me anytime the post a video using my music. Obviously booking me for their events it all adds up and it all helps.
