Daily Inspiration: Meet Sola Ajao

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sola Ajao.

Hi Sola, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born in Nigeria and emigrated to the U.S. in the 80s!

I was devastated to find that there was no food from Nigeria so I started making my own and selling it! Fast forward to today, I now run a full-service African market and catering company!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The biggest obstacle for me, well there are many, but I really had a hard time navigating the world of entrepreneurship. English is my second language so it’s hard to get people to believe in you because of their bias. I say don’t give up either way!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Food is my love language! As an African chef, I get the incredible opportunity to introduce and make African food accessible to people.

I am so proud of Destiny because not only are we putting African food on the map, we are creating a fun, multi-generational community around it.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Yes! During the grand opening of my business, my children gifted me this book I highly recommend. The name of the book is “Called to Create” by Jordan Raynor. https://www.calledtocreate.org/.
