Today we’d like to introduce you to Syretta Scott.
Hi Syretta, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have a love for both writing and learning; also a Lover of God and people. I discovered the love for writing in the 5th grade, through an amazing teacher, Nancy Popielarczyk. I have had the privilege of being in the tutelage of great educators and leaders and am grateful for it. Raised by amazing parents, Laura and Walter with beautiful siblings, reared in the church. Writing books and music are a passion. These passions were discovered at an early age. The realization to share them came later. It began through journaling and short stories. Opportunities, promptings and prophetic encouragement to share writings, became successive. My first published book, Body and Blood Confessions with Jesus Christ is a 40 day devotional inspiring engagement in intimacy with The Savior. More books to come.
Additionally, I’m immensely grateful to complete a terminal degree-doctorate, with research steeped in Entrepreneurial Ecosystems as it relates to female entrepreneurs. The findings were insightful as women are phenomenal.
They are additionally incredible in business and certainly are deserving of great opportunities.
Research revealed that female entrepreneurs are experiencing a disparity throughout the nation and this research helps to quantify such findings, in hopes to support women in gaining greater access to those resources.
The global economy is missing out on trillions of revenue, by not investing in female entrepreneurs, it’s time to change this.
My passion for music can best be described currently as, a comfort beyond measure, and writing and singing is both personal and corporate for me. It is both intimate and to be shared. Therefore, I exercise this for The Glory of God.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been a good road even with challenges. The challenges create a muscle of endurance as well as resilience. Sometimes a little affliction is necessary, in there is so much learned.
Early challenges, as a child I began, loosing my hearing and had surgery twice before the age of 6, to maintain it.
There have been some occasional challenges to hear along the way, however, I am blessed to hear very well.
Learning has been on average pretty easy however, a negative thought impeded me initially. I did not feel that I was college smart or college material. Taking a college entrance exam and getting accepted to a college was my first step in shattering a glass ceiling of unaccounted for doubt. Some of these challenges, were a set up to defeat even greater. I learned through challenges that I have a certain GRIT. Quitting is not an option. Although occasional rest points are necessary.
