Daily Inspiration: Meet Yohana Bermudez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yohana Bermudez.

Hi Yohana, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Yohana Bermudez, I’m from a magic town located in El Salvador, and I live in Houston since 2014. I think I’m a born entrepreneur. I love everything that has to do with crafts, I enjoy organizing events, and serving people and I’m also a coffee & hot tea lover. First, I must say that I always pray that I have a business that I love to work in. Coffee has always had a special place in my family, personally, I think it is the perfect excuse for a good conversation. Latinos know that a hot drink is only perfect with a piece of pan dulce. When I met my fiancé’s family, I noticed that they had the same love for coffee. We always look for a cup when the cake is served at any party. From there the idea to offer a coffee bar for events was born. We know that there are people out there who love tea and hot chocolate and that is why we included these options. The bar also comes with flavored syrups, toppings, and sweeteners. It includes a shelf of sweet snacks, and it is also self-service so you can feel comfortable choosing whatever you want. Decorating according to the theme makes it a nice spot anywhere.

My fiancé and I were looking for a project to do together after work and Sips and Bites Cart was a perfect fit for us. He has a special talent for taking pictures and I’m happy working on this because it combines some of my passions, making desserts, decorating, coffee and tea. That makes us a good team!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As I said before I have always wanted to work on something that I love. I have tried some businesses before but they didn’t work out because we also have a full-time job. Despite that, we keep trying, and now we are here and we are doing very well. God is good!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I studied administrative assistance while living in El Salvador and I currently work as an accounting assistant in a transportation company. I am also an active volunteer at my church. Apparently, it has nothing to do with my entrepreneurship but it helps a lot in practice.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
