Today we’d like to introduce you to Zak Mayhew-Yanez.
Hi Zak, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Born in Houston, Texas and raised between my hometown and Caracas, Venezuela, my story is seasoned with love. My father is from the United States and my mother is from Venezuela (of West Indian and Dutch Heritage). Thankfully I come from a loving, diverse family that sharpened my understanding of the world around me. I especially looked up to my great grandfather, Armando Yanez Caicedo. He is a legendary Venezuelan musician responsible for writing and recording the “MUNICIPIO CARONI,” the legally recognized hymn of Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela. His roles as both an entertainer yet also a community leader inspired me to do the same. He was my closest example of a true man who did what he loved to inspire love. I continue to look towards his integrity as my personal inspiration, ensuring I communicate morality through my platform as he did.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Though today I am a confident entrepreneur, it has not always been so. Prior to my fame, I was told by dark corner of society in order to be successful, I had to conform to what they labeled “normal.” This advice is not abnormal to hear, but it is wrong to follow. In search of myself and my purpose, I took a long trip to Venezuela. I realized no matter how much people were struggling in the world outside of my bubble, they eloquently live a life of love, unity, and hope. It exposed how unfulfilling that advice would be, and I found my purpose in philanthropy through my work. I merged my passion for entertainment with my mission for a better world. I learned to use my abilities in each trade to promote different messages of positivity, such as using Life of Mayhem to amplify diverse voices of unity -and discover my own voice. Through my various roles in entertainment and business, I strive to lead the world, and myself, towards love.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My name is Zakary Mayhew-Yanez, and I am a bisexual first-generation Venezuelan-American Actor, Radio Host, Supermodel, Influencer, and CEO of MAYHEM38 Limited Liability Corporation; copyright holder to Life of Mayhem. I am most notably host of Life of Mayhem, a web series-themed podcast on YouTube. My primary objective with Life of Mayhem is to further share my mission of love, unity, and hope by being my authentic self. Through my legally recognized LLC, MAYHEM38, I own and distribute Life of Mayhem’s podcast and products on YouTube, Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, Pandora, and more.
Prior to these journeys, I became a trainee at WWE Hall of Fame Inductee Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling (R.O.W.), where I train to one day perform in a wrestling ring. In addition to R.O.W., I was host of “The Pulse” on Tiger Radio in Stockton, California. My current roles include being host of Life of Mayhem, a MANSCAPED Influencer with a personalized discount code (ZAKM20), and verified Amazon Affiliate with a personalized storefront. I am proud of my various occupations because I succeed in these ventures as myself. Though the magnitude of my fear of failure and fear of judgement can be crushing, I persevere through belief in myself and commitment to my goals. The best truth I accepted early in my career is that nothing is impossible.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
There is a multitude of different paths I can take with my industry over the next 5-10 years. I could go the acting route, radio/talk show route, business route, or even one I have yet to consider. My current plan is to continue Life of Mayhem through 2021 and to acquire my Doctorate in Business Finance. I am considering converting MAYHEM38 into a personal clothing line, primarily because I have always wanted to create a wardrobe that inspires self-confidence! I am confident my future destination will be fulfilling, no matter the path(s) I choose. Whatever transpires in the future, I will continue to maintain integrity in my work and reflect my mission of love, unity, and hope in my actions.
