Today we’d like to introduce you to Ziera Idlebird.
Hi Ziera, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my journey as a make-up artist in 2018. I was attending college at the time, at Tyler Junior College. In the midst of being a college student and working a part-time job, make-up became my escape. I would practice for hours on myself, watching YouTube, learning new techniques, perfecting my craft and it worked! My skills grew quickly, and I began practicing with my roommates. I left school and moved back home and shortly after, I was accepting bridal clients, prom, and group events. What started as a hobby, turned into my passion. For 2 years, I worked full-time while taking make-up appointments around my schedule but once Covid-19 took place, things shifted for the best. I took a leap of faith and became a full-time make-up artist for my business, Eyeconic Beauty Bar.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth wouldn’t be the first word that comes to mind. Entrepreneurship takes hard work, discipline & non-stop sacrifices. I think the biggest struggle I’ve faced in the beginning, would be trusting the process. I’m my biggest critic and slightly a perfectionist. Sometimes I could be so hard on myself and expect everything to be perfect and that mindset would stop me from releasing certain projects or making certain content because I felt it wasn’t up to par. It’s a process but the beauty in it all is the GROWTH! I fell in love with my growth and saw how far I’ve come. Everyone starts somewhere, and once I realized it’s not about the start, but how you finish, I fell more in love with the journey.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a 23-year-old make-up artist, located in Houston, Texas, specializing in providing the perfect flawless make-up application. I am most known for achieving an airbrushed, flawless skin effect. Although my make-up skills are what being the girls in, my warm & welcoming customer service is what keep the girls coming! I love connecting with my clients and making them feel at home. Receiving all the love and compliments on how I provide top-notch customer service, is the most rewarding part of it all. I will soon be offering far more than make-up applications. My supporters is what keep me going!
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
In entrepreneurship, risks are a part of the process. I would have to say my biggest risk would be leaving college and becoming a make-up artist full-time. I didn’t have 100% support on leaving school completely. With school, there is more security in knowing you will have a degree and a more guaranteed career. With my business, it’s all left to me. I had to take a bet on myself and with faith in God, I knew all things were possible. Your success is up to you. What you put in, you get out.
