Dr. Kimberley Booker of Northeast on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Dr. Kimberley Booker shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Kimberley , a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
I am proud of building an organization that is empowering young ladies to become leaders and the best versions of themselves

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello! My name is Dr. Kimberley N. Booker, CEO & Founder of Young Ladies of Elegance, Young Men of Character, and Mentor Me, LLC.

Young Ladies of Elegance was established in 2004 and is still in existence. The organization has mentored over 2500 girls and impacted thousands of young ladies through workshops, summits, and meetings.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My mother always saw my potential, worth, and value. She truly was my biggest cheerleader and supporter. Because of my mother, I am the woman I am today….. a phenomenal wife, an amazing mother, a dedicated sister, and a hard worker.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
When my mother passed in 2008, my life paused. At the time, I was in the Doctoral Program and I gave it up. I felt there was no need to do any of these things if my mother was not going to see it. But God sent an angel to me, Dr. Davis, who reminded me how proud my mom would be.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I truly admire my daughter-in-law. She is the best wife, mother, and daughter I have ever met. She reminds me of myself. She does a lot and receive little in return. She gives, gives, gives. Although she has her own personal struggles, she hides them in order to keep putting fires out in everyone else’s life.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I want people to continue my legacy of strength and love. I want the world to know how much I love God, my husband, my sons, my daughter-in-law and my family. I want them to say what you saw is what you got. That I was real and my dedication was not a show.
