Today we’d like to introduce you to Norma Orozco Cisneros
Hi Norma, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Norma Orozco I am 31 years old and this is my story ,when I was 1 year old my parents immigrated to the US. The fact that my parent`s risk everything to bring me and my brothers to the US from Mexico for a better future and more opportunities and seeing my parents struggle many times to financially support our family I knew I had to be someone in life to make them proud and show them it was worth the struggle. it all started at the age of 10 working at a local market selling sunglasses with a friend of the family getting pay 20 dollars a day for Saturday and Sunday, I loved working and having my own money. after so many years struggling with working double jobs and getting rejected many times due to my immigration status until finally I started working for a trucking company as an administrator worked there for 6 years and with the knowledge of the trucking industry and business administration figured why not try to build my own company I knew it would take me some time especially with my budget but working there and also doing makeup and photography on weekends I was able to start one step at a time having 1 child and 1 on the way as a single mother it was hard my but eventually I was able to buy my first truck and trailer and my permits little by little I’ve been adding trucks to my company with god and the help and support of my husband now our company continues to grow. now that I have my trucking business up and running, I am also currently working on opening my clothing line and beauty boutique in Sugarland TX and have many other ideas to continue to grow as a businesswoman. I want to inspire my Latin community and show them that everything is possible with hard work and dedication we are DREAMERS and we came to this country to achieve our dreams.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been hard at the beginning there were times that I would have to borrow money for diesel or maintenance on my truck but I knew it was the process I knew everyone starts like this and I knew it was not going to be an easy ride but I also knew that I was going to make it I pray to god every morning to help me and guide me the right direction
