I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been easy at all, battling sickle cell disease and trying to juggle life has had its challenges. Being in and out of the hospital and going to school full time. With all that, I was still determined to get my book out. When I first started, I had no idea what I was doing or what questions to ask for help. I didn’t let that stop me or hold me back. And continued on to publish my book.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a self-published author of a children’s book. The book is about Gizelle a brave little girl with sickle cell, defeating the odds every day. She puts on her cape and turns Sickle Cells into Super Cells. I am a sickle cell advocate who specializes in spreading awareness and advocacy. What sets me apart from others is my lyrics to keep going no matter where is thrown at me and how I have a personal connection to something that I’m advocating for. I’m most proud of my book that I created, from writing this on the back of a receipt paper to actually seeing it publish into a real book and it’s in stores in it’s on Amazon Barnes & Noble target and different other retail outlets. Important to me that readers understand is that Sickle Cell is Naomi Sickle Cell is not something to be afraid of I want to change the narrative of what people think Sickle Cell is in show decide to see that we are not just sick and I was in the hospital we post to be any day you wake up and get out of bed and try to make a difference.

What were you like growing up?
I was a ball of fun I will most describe myself as an Rubik’s cube. Just when you thought you had the colors are in the right spot to make all the colors match, I turn around and do something different I was always are going I was a little shy about the disease that I have a bin that I was bringing me I was fun I want to go outside and play and have a good time.
