Hi Alexus, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started Lexurious Hair in 2018 with nothing more than a vision and determination to create a brand that stood for quality, longevity, and confidence. My journey really began with my own love for having my hair done. I was always investing in good hair because of how it made me feel; confident, put together, and unstoppable. Experiencing that feeling firsthand inspired me to create something that would allow other women to feel the same way. As we all know, when you look good, you feel good, and I wanted to be the one to provide that.

At the time, I was still in college, selling hair out of my apartment and even the trunk of my car. I started with just three raw Indian textures: body wave, curly, and straight. As my clientele grew, customers began asking for more options like closures and frontals to complete their installs. From there, demand continued to grow, and so did my vision for the brand.

Since 2018, Lexurious Hair has evolved from a small college dream into a fully operating online business offering over 20 premium raw hair products, virtually everything you can think of. Every step of my journey represents resilience, faith, and self-belief, and it is a testament to the idea that you can build something lasting from nothing if you stay consistent and true to your purpose.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. There were moments when I felt like giving up, times when sales were slow, vendors fell through, or life just felt heavier than I could carry. I started this journey with no investors, no connections, and no clear roadmap, just a dream that wouldn’t let go of me.

There were nights I cried, prayed, and questioned if I was really built for this. But every time I wanted to quit, God reminded me why I started. My faith has carried me through every setback, delay, and disappointment. I truly believe those challenges were never meant to break me, but to build me, to strengthen my character, deepen my faith, and prepare me for the blessings attached to my name.

Through it all, I’ve learned that when you walk by faith, even the hardest seasons eventually work in your favor.

In 2022, I expanded the brand by offering professional installation services through TAPES X LEXURIOUS HAIR, a custom experience that focuses exclusively on tape-in installations. While I install tape-ins through this service, I also offer both K-tips and Tape-ins for purchase online. This addition allowed me to not only provide luxury extensions but also create a full transformation experience from product to installation. As my business grew, I decided to further my education by earning my MBA, focusing on business and brand management to strengthen the foundation of Lexurious Hair. That experience gave me the knowledge and structure to elevate my brand operations, marketing, and long-term strategy, ensuring Lexurious Hair continues to thrive with purpose and professionalism.

I am most proud of how far the brand has come, from starting with just a few bundles and no investors to now serving women across the country who trust and love our products. My mission is to continue expanding globally, inspiring confidence, and giving women luxury that truly lasts.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I have learned that every big dream requires big faith, and that means taking risks even when the outcome is not guaranteed. Starting Lexurious Hair was one of my biggest leaps of faith. I invested money I did not truly have, trusted vendors overseas, and entered an industry already filled with competition. There were moments when I did not know if I would make a profit or if anyone would even notice my brand, but I kept moving forward and trusted that what God placed on my heart was not by accident.

To me, risk-taking is about walking in obedience rather than comfort. Every major decision I have made, from launching new product lines to expanding my brand and offering professional services, came with uncertainty. I have learned that faith and fear cannot coexist. When you trust God’s timing and stay aligned with your purpose, the risks you take often become the very steps that lead you into your calling.

Another major risk for me was choosing to remain authentic in an industry that often encourages people to follow trends or fit into certain molds. I made a promise early on to build my brand with integrity, faith, and intention. I want other young women watching my journey to know that you can be successful while staying true to yourself. The real power move is walking in your purpose, not trying to be like everyone else.
