Exploring Life & Business with Ali Joseph of Cascade Spirits

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ali Joseph.

Ali, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Wild Roots began in 2013 with a line of vodkas inspired by our roots in the Pacific Northwest. We noticed that in the already oversaturated world of vodka, something was missing. There were no natural options. Artificial fruit extracts, flavors and colors lined the shelves, and we were confident we could create something that would stand out above the rest. As natives to the Pacific Northwest, we knew there were few places in the world that produced fruit as flavorful and abundant as Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Our trailblazing start-up that began in a garage has now become one of the largest distilleries in the Northwest, with goals of achieving that same success across the country. We have solidified our roots in our home market and now aim to spread our reach nationwide.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There are always growing pains with starting and continuing a business especially over ten years. Some recent challenges have been similar to a lot of businesses with supply chain issues. We have a lot of components to our end product (fruit, glass, labels, corks, etc.), if one item is held up then it causes a domino effect on getting our final bottle out of the door.

As you know, we’re big fans of Cascade Spirits. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Cascade Spirit is home to Wild Roots. We are best known for our fruit-infused vodkas which contain over a pound of real fruit in every bottle. Our use of real fruit sets us apart on the shelves. There was nothing like Wild Roots when we launched in 2012 and ten years later, we still stand out as a super unique product line. Our spirits are all-natural, no artificial sweeteners, flavors or colors and always True to the Fruit. We are proud to offer customers a real option featuring fruit unique to Pacific Northwest region.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
We have learned patience and flexibility from the Covid-19 Crisis. We have had to roll with the punches and adapt to the ever-changing landscape.
