Exploring Life & Business with Aloisia Maurane of The Lash Zone

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aloisia Maurane.

Hi Aloisia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hi! My name is Aloisia and I have been a lash technician for a little over a year. I am originally from Gabon, located in Central Africa. After high school, my parents sent me to the United States for college where I pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Finance.

I had nothing. My parents were paying for my tuitions and always wanted me to focus on school and forbade me to work. I was relying on them for everything until I could not anymore. Unfortunately, the world was hit in 2020 by a pandemic, which led to a lot of people losing their jobs, and schools being closed… I was forced to do something to make some money. I stopped received anything from back home, and I needed to survive.

I have always loved lash extensions and been interested in everything related to beauty and personal care which is one of the reasons why I got into lashing. Before becoming a lash technician, I was a very regular client to my lash artist, never missing a fill. Someone very dear to my heart came to me and said: “We are in the middle of a pandemic. You can’t just stay home and do nothing. Learn something, launch a business. Learn anything your future self will thank you for. What would you like to do? Let me know what you need to get started.”

I immediately thought about joining the lash industry. It took tons of trials and errors but I am glad I am able to have a growing business today, with over 100 clients serviced.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?

Nothing ever comes easy in life. The road to success is slow and requires you to make a few changes along the way, dropping unnecessary bags (discouragement, laziness, comparison…) and moving forward with plans and focus. That is how I describe my lash journey. I have encountered many struggles, the biggest one being retention. Imagine getting a text message from a client you serviced two days prior telling you her lashes are falling out. Total panic. What exactly went wrong? Is it me, is it the client? Many times I thought about giving up. I have compared myself to the successful lash artists on social media and it only led me to self-destruction. I was not getting better. Thankfully, with some help and a lot of practice, I am now able to achieve 5+ weeks of retention on almost all of my clients. Giving up has been an option multiple times. But remember, it’s a road. If you have already walked 10 miles, giving up would only mean you need to turn around and walk 10 other miles, and I would rather keep pushing.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Lash Zone?
I created The Lash Zone in 2o20 during the pandemic. When choosing a name for my business, I need something that would look good and professional when people drive by and see my storefront. It has always been my number one objective. I specialize in classy lash extensions, the ones that look good, professional and can be worn for any occasion while favoring the health of your natural lashes. My sets are known for being short, light and different from the majority.

I am most proud of my growth. It has been a very difficult journey! I have a proud moment every time my clients look at their lashes and tell me, “Yes ! I am back in the game”. Enhancing their natural beauty and making them feel and look good is a feeling I would never trade.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
I owe everything to God. He has been the number one reason for the season, a listening ear when nobody understood my struggle and a provider to my needs. I thank him for the vision and endless ideas. To my family, my friends. Thank you for the support, the posts, the advice.

Esther & Serge Assi, my spiritual parents. Thank you for the love and prayers. My heart is rejoicing, let alone God’s heart.

Fabrice, thank you for being there from the beginning. Thank you for the mental and financial support and for pushing me when I was discouraged.

And a huge thank you to all of my clients for the love, trust and encouragement.
